    Default Learning the pole...

    Hey guys,

Did you all get lessons on how to use the pole before you started dancing?? Or did you just pick it up?

I don't have the $$ for lessons right now and want to start dancing within the next few weeks, but I'm worried that if I just try and pick it up I'll go flying across the room.... Or worse, the people sitting around me will end up getting kicked in the face.

    Advice??

    Thanks

I would say don't be too concerned with it for the first few weeks you dance... Some of the stuff you will pick up quickly, ask some of the girls before your shift starts... DONT TRY ANYTHING while you are on stage... Try to get to work early to practice before your shift starts... There a lot of pole classes you can pick up once you start making $$$...

There's some girls that have been dancing for years and still don't do pole work. I've danced on and off for a few years and I don't really do any pole tricks.

If the stage you're dancing on has a pole, you can use it as a prop, if you're just starting out dancing, I wouldn't try doing any tricks until you get comfortable dancing first!

the best thing i ever did was to sit by that stage when it was quite and watch the other dancers and then practice the moves when it was my turn. i would also experiment with the moves they did to make them better.

Thanks guys - yeah I didn't think it would be such a good idea to try it while there's an audience.
Lucious, when you say use it as a prop, what do you mean exactly?

It's true; you don't need to be able to pole dance in order to make money. Making money is all about your overall "personality"; your attitude, as well as your appearance to some extent (although all guys have different "tastes"). Pole dancing is something you do because you love it, and want to make an extra effort in your performance. I love it, and am hoping to find out about the biggest "stars" of pole dancing. I've studied dance all my life and want to learn more!

Don't try to go crazy on the pole at first, just use it as a prop, obviously you aren't going to be an expert. Check out the club, see if you can befriend some of the girls that are good on the pole, maybe they will work with you. You can always go to a park and use a playground pole if there are no kids around. You'll pick things up, these girls are right you don't need to be great on the pole to make $$. If you can't afford to take lessons there are dvd's that you can buy. Sheila Kelly has one and so does Fawnia.
