Oddly, some guys like that ice princess snotty girl. I've even seen submissive customers who like mean chicks. A regular would get really turned on by a Russian chick who wore black leather and snatched half his stack off the bar. I smiled and got five bucks she scowled and got fifty! Go figure.

^^It has to do with dominance. In the language of psychological tells, smiling is a submissive signal. Most men like smiley women, at least at intervals of initial social interaction, because it makes them feel superior when a woman is trying to seem non-threatening (when she's smiling, she's courting him passively). Not smiling is a more dominant stance...there are men who really like that type. (A girl at my club, Angry McScowl practically sneers while she's on stage, but it works for her somehow...goes with her 'take no prisoners' persona I guess).

Ever notice how often we try harder to impress people who seem not to like us? It's the dominant/submissive deal. (according to my book on pop-psychology, haha).

Yes, I smile and often too. I feel and look stupid doing the whole pouty vixen thing. It just isn't me and it shows. Plus a person who smiles is alot more approachable and that can make a huge difference in sales.

i def smile. i smile when i talk to them and when i am on stage...i mean, i don't have this big toothy grin the whole time i'm on stage...but yeah, when i go up to them and am dancing right in front of them and looking them in the eyes..yes, i def smile. i used to not because i was focusing so much on trying to dance well...and people made comments saying that i didn't look like i was having fun or that i was trying too hard.

it AMAZES me, tho. a couple of the clubs i've worked at...most of the dancers don't smile...but they do just as well, if not better, than the ones that do!

I think I smile a normal amount. I don't do the "fake smile all the time" thing because I think people can see through that bullshit. I smile during conversation when I would naturally smile. I don't act overly interested, because some girls do that and guys almost always complain about how fake it is. If a guy is telling you about how he mowed his lawn earlier and you're nodding away smiling from ear to ear going "REALLY??? WOW! THAT'S GREAT!" that's just insulting. On stage I smile a fairly good ammount. I tend to have the "sly" or "playfull" 1/2 smile a lot, because I really enjoy myself on stage. In conversation, I think just being natural works best. Acting pissed off or bored isnt going to get you anywhere, and neither is acting completely fake.
