    new to philly, with questions

Hi everyone! I just moved here from Cleveland and am thinking of dancing. I danced at a topless club at home, but only for a night. ( because it seemed the guys wanted more than I was willing to do, and it was kind of a dirty club to begin with). Anyway...

I think I am going to check out Risque. I have read through some other threads on here about clubs to try as a newbie, but most seemed a little old. Any updated info would be greatly appreciated!

I am also looking for stores in the area that have a larger selection of dancewear.
As I said I'm new to the area and don't really know where anything is just yet.
I'm 5'8 about 155pounds and many outfits I've tried on in the past just dont seem to fit quite right. I'm pretty toned, but have larger hips and thighs, and as much as I love them, that seems to be the problem with clothes that don't fit.

So, if anyone has any info for me I would love to hear from ya! And thanks to everyone for all the great stuff I've found here.

the only club that I know of that does amateur nights around here is Al's Diamond Cabaret in Reading. Most everything in Philly is the kind of thing where you get hired by audition.

If you are a complete newbie, you might want to get your feet wet at a smaller club (Gold Club comes to mind). Most of the clubs are pretty tame, but I'd stay away from Oasis or Cheerleaders if guys touching you bothers you.

Also, there is good shopping on South St, bewteen like 2nd and 6th, but it's kind of expensive compared to on-line stores. Erogenous Zone and Candy Store are popular among dancers, especially for shoes.

i'm in philly and i may not be able to help you out with dancing (as i've had to put that idea aside for a bit due to some other things going on in my life right now) but i CAN tell you about shopping
like emily said--south street is good but a little expensive; lady lord (on south and 6th? 7th?) has a pretty good selection too.
for shoes too there's this place in the gallery mall (8th & market) called zeena lingerie that has nice platforms, the prices aren't bad either imo.
passionale has fetishy type stuff if thats your style (i havent been there but i have friends who love it)
i know there are a few more philly dancers on here so hopefully they can add more info
    hope this helps!

Hey Tyffani I work at Club Risque Philly. It'sa good club, the best times to come in are monday-friday like 7-8. Call 215 463 6900 press 2. Ask for Ron, Bob, or Connie. For your first few outfits go to the Candy shop on fifth and south you have to knock on the door and wait for the lady or the guy to open up. Just tell them you work at Risque. All the stuff at the stores are overpriced and you can find the exact same stuff online for MUCH cheaper, but to start off with that's good. Risque is a gown club after 7 pm except for Naughty Nighty Mondays. Harriet, the best housemom in the world, sells outfits on the nights she works, (wed-friday) they are really cute about 80-90 each. And they are origional so you won't be wearing the same outfit as all the other girls that shop at the stripper stores. Good luck I hope you come to risque cuz it's the best club I've worked at so far, (only comparing to Delilah's and Signatures though.)
