Clubs in Columbus went under a smoking ban last year and I haven't seen any drop-off in business (informal observation of an informal custy). Personally, I feel more comfortable going because I don't reek of smoke afterwards.
They're doing the smoking ban in Toronto starting June first, no more smoking room. Im excited for it actually because my club is building a balcony that we can go out to, its going to have raised sides and stuff and a tarp to pull over for rain and heat in the winter. It will be nice to be able to go outside and get fresh air![]()

They did that here in Newfounland last Canada day and everyone found a bit of a decline from it....
It should be fine if the club makes a place for the smokers outside and protected from the weather. Also, if it is your whole region.
If it is just your club or your city, it may hurt business. Even people who don't smoke at home will tend to smoke when they drink and will go to clubs where they can do both.
Thankfully for us the smoking ban is all of Ontario, so if we feel a decline it wont be for long because no matter where you go you can not smoke. I love the fact we are having a sheltered patio conected to our club, it will be a great break for the dancers as well.
I wasn't dancing in NYC when the state wide smoking ban took effect, so I don't really know how if effected earnings. But like you said, it wouldn't be for long anyway b/c there's nowhere else to go. It's nice that your club is accomodating the custys, that may even help to attract some.

We were just talking about that at work the other night... DC is starting that on New Years... I've heard several people who work in different parts of Maryland say it has hurt business...

The whole city is banning smoking in May, I'm very worried because so many people smoke in this city. I smoke alot at work I guess it's a nervous thing . 9 out of 10 girls smoke at my club if we all quit together it will be one big bitch fest...poor customers.Originally Posted by Paris

It's hurt beaumont. Really bad.
I'm lucky to make $100 a night now, and before the ban I was averaging $300 + a day.
I'm considering moving.
I'm in Columbus also and I'll second it didn't hurt my club at all either... And we don't even have a smoking patio!
As a non-smoker, I'm content.

I wish they would ban smoking in all clubs i hate my hair reaking of smoke when i come home from work i do not smoke and i don't wish to smell like i just sucked back a carton. as for bussiness it will probaly effect it at first when people are still all pissed about it and then pick back up when they relize its not going to change.
I wish they'd ban smoking in all bars, actually. It would be so nice to work without smelling of smoke, and like last night, it was cigar smoke. Blech. My lungs could do without it.

Corigan - come to Corpus and go to the Cabaret, Cheetah's or the Palace for optimum money - we still smoke here!!!

I don't know when smoking was banned in Seattle since I just moved here, and couldn't say if it caused a decline, but it doesn't seem to be much of a problem. There's ok money here - certainly nothing to write home about, but I think that has more to do with the stupid contact rules than the no-smoking.
I loooooooove being able to work without smelling like a nasty ashtray when I get home. The girls who smoke go right out the front door where there's a bouncer to smoke. So do the customers. The customers who don't smoke like it better and probably stay longer because they're not choking on smoke![]()
Fuck a buncha smokers I say![]()

That may be true, but customers who are smokers (or customers who are part of a group which includes smokers) typically spend a shorter amount of time inside a non-smoking club ... thus spending less money ... thus reducing dancer earnings potential. When New York enacted the no-smoking law, there was a noticeable transition from guys who smoked 'making a night of it' at one club (i.e. eventually buying private dances and VIP room time) to the same guys hitting several different clubs for an hour each (i.e. two beers, a lap dance or two, and no VIP room time). Of course, these guys are getting their cigarettes in as they travel from club to club. But like you said, it wouldn't be for long anyway b/c there's nowhere else to go
There were also a few clubs that managed to land an 'exemption' to the state no-smoking law - obviously these 'exempt' clubs use the fact that customers are allowed to smoke in their VIP rooms as a strong selling point, and bank big time with customers who are dedicated smokers.
My wife and I enjoy going to strip clubs together. We do this every couple of months or so just for a little fun to spice things up. If there wasn't a smoking ban, we couldn't do it as the smoke usually bothers us and leaves us with sinus problems for a few days. So in the long run, the smoking ban has been good for our sex life.![]()
I would hope that other customers are there for more than a ciggarette. We come for the entertainment.
P.S. Thank you girls for throwing a little fun into a middle aged couples life.![]()

hahah thats funny, i forgot about my avatar, I took that photo being silly, I honestly do not smoke!
I now see how silly that looks.

^^^ true, but the relative plusses and minuses depends on the number of smokers versus non-smokers in that area. In California where less than 10% of the population smokes, it's undoubtedly a plus. In other states where 25%+ of residents smoke, it can be a big minus.
When i worked in NY, I saw customers frequently go outside to smoke, then come back in. They didn't seem to make their stay any shorter. Although we also had a special VIP (champange) room where customers could smoke if they paid for the room. So maybe a smoker wouldn't stay in a nonsmoking VIP all night, but would stay in the club getting dances all night. I don't think it will have too much of an effect as long as all clubs nearby ban smoking too.

I live in NY and I mostly frequent clubs in Maryland and PA. Why?
Can't smoke in NY. Ya ask me...worth the drive. Used to club in NJ but then they banned smoking, so now I don't. Can't speak for the population but for me, a club has a lot to overcome if you can't smoke.
Ah well...Ultimately, I will move to either Vegas or Charlotte. I figure, you'll ALWAYS be able to smoke in those towns

"See, believe it or not (and I don't care whether you do), it's never been about the sex. I get sex at home, anytime, and we like it, and it's good for both of us. No, my stripclub experience has been about acceptance, and affirmation, and desirability...There have been some women who have a personality that just clicks with mine, and in the faux-sex atmosphere of the club, it's a mix that is completely seductive." - Jay Zeno
a few years ago when smoking was banned in my area, there was a decline in business for awhile. some guys were ticked and went to clubs in neighboring states. however, things got better after the initial shock of it all. however, i do agree with Melonie that smokers tended to spend a little less time in the clubs that before the ban took place. they'd go outside to smoke, and then have second thoughts. annoying when i was trying to make a pitch.
then again, i had quit smoking by the time the ban came around, so i was happier not to work in a smoky place.
