    Default slow seaons in Vegas?

Okay, so I understand the the good season is Jan-April, which is convention season and CES is the best in Jan. I also hear summers are really slow in Vegas. Does this start in May or June? Does it extend all the way to August? Also, why are summers slow in Vegas? Just curious. I heard December is the worst month to work in Vegas but I did pretty well in December except for the week before Christmas, the week before Christmas was death.

I would assume it has a lot to do with the weather, in case you haven't heard Vegas is HOT in the summer. Conversely when it's cold up north people want to get out of the cold and are more likely to travel there. There is almost always a weekend crowd there though.

Summer is SLOW! Hot weather and not many conventions = less tourists. July and August are terrible. After my first year dancing there I learned. I took time off in summer and around the holidays. Just be prepared for the slower times so you're not taken by surprise.

I've always been told the Summer dead season in LV starts at Memorial Day and ends at Labor Day.

If you want to get an idea of what kind of traffic to expect, one way is to go to a hotel reservation website and check out the room rates for various time periods (the cheaper less desireable hotels are probably your best barometer). If you notice an otherwise unexplainable spike in rates (room rates went through the roof during CES) then they're probably expecting lotsa people for a convention. If they're dirt cheap OTOH, its probably going to be slow.

I don't know about it being a big tourist draw, but I see Harrah's has moved the World Series Of Poker tournaments to July and August, whereas it was in June and July last year, and used to traditionally be held in April and May. Any of you gals have anything to report on poker players/fans coming into the clubs?

Thank you for all your responses! I'm going to brace myself for the slow summer season *sigh* and work as much as I can this month.

I know at my club there is a local who is a poker player and the girls say when he comes in he spends a lot of $$$. I danced for a professional poker player before from out of town and he was pretty generous with his money.
