How much did it cost you and how PAINFUL was it afterward (oh and how long were you outta commission)
How much did it cost you and how PAINFUL was it afterward (oh and how long were you outta commission)
???? Wow, no one?
I will be getting one in a few months. my dr is charging 5,500 (not including hospital fees) He said ill be able to go back to work in a couple weeks. Hope this helps a little.

I had one, but I dunno how much mine would have cost since I got a BA and together the total was about 10k. My sister got one, hers was 4k alone. I didn't really notice the pain since I had my BA to thinka bout haha. That was far worse, but my sister says the pain was just bad for the first two days. I seriously didn't even notice any nose pain! You could go back to work after 2 weeks but be VERY careful. Good luck!
Im thinking about getting one in the fall hopefully. Thankfully im in Canada so I just have to pay the surgon and no hospital expences lol. Please let me know how it goes. I want to know what im getting myself into.
I've had two. My nose was broken and was having trouble breathing at night while sleeping. The first was not too painful but the second one hurt really bad for about two days not much after that. We bartered services.
Noodle
The first one I had felt like a head ache for the first 2 days. Not so bad. Swollen and bruised under the eyes. I was out for only 1 week and back at work with a little concealer. But I dont know how my second one will feel in April. I wasnt too pleased with my 1st one. Im going to a different Dr this time. Always ask to see before and after photos.
I've had one and it wasn't that painful. The boobs were worse. But I had 2 black eyes for almost a month...and I don't know how much it cost because I didn't pay for it (thats what boys are for) and it wa s5 years ago.
aw damn, how do you ladies con guys into stuff like that! hey but my theory about all that is if they pay for it, then they own a part of you, which is creepy to me!
I had one over 10 years ago. I think it was around $6000. I was laid up on the couch knocked out for about a week I don't recall any pain but it wasn't pleasant either. They stuff your nose full and you have to breath through your mouth. I just recall being really drained feeling. I think surgery just traumatizes your body and you need to recover. I only took a week off but I was working in an office so there wasn't much risk of my nose getting hit or anything.

Ah I do remember something gross. You get little scabbies in your nose from the inscisions and they come out when you blow your nose....bleh! I would say you will pay anywhere from 4-10k.
I want to get a nose job but I'm scared! What if they mess up? What if it looks fake? I know I won't get any support from my friends or family!
I heard it takes a year to fully heal?
Ok, I am about 3 months post op from mine. Let me tell you it DIDN'T HURT! I didn't eat a single pain pill. Mine ran 6k but I also had a labia plasty. It swelled, it bruised, it was a bit uncomfortable at the most, because I couldn't breathe out of it. I will try to answer any questions I see on here. I have recovery pics on older blogs at www.myspace.com/therealkristen
Ok time to answer the questions I see.
Cost- roughly 4k, but remember, you GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR, who can't tell the difference between 3k boobies and 6k?
Pain- For me, personally, minimal if AT ALL, quite pleasant, just bored.
Out of comission- I waited roughly 6 weeks, only for fear of getting bumped, and when my bp would go up, I would swell. I was on my feet by monday and had it on a friday. the packing coming out was another story.
Mistakes- if you go to a surgeon that is board certified, chances are he will not mess up! DO YOUR RESEARCH!
Healing time-like i said on my feet in a few days, but the nose is back to FULL strength by 6 weeks, and total swelling takes about a year to go down. there are open and closed rhinoplasty. open is well... open. they cut you at the bottom of your nose and literally peel your nose back. more expierenced surgeons will do closed, where they cut the inside.
Looks- generally if you have an expierenced surgeon it won't look fake. you discuss your expectations with him in a consult. he tells you whats realisitc for your face. he won't make it look fake if he knows what hes doing....
what i stress most is DO NOT GO TO A RESIDENT, now I'm not knocking residents but this is your face, do you really want to chance a mistake? pay the extra few grand. get what you pay for. and RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH! ask questions that is what they are there for. Ask about his certifications!
Don't give me lip! I'm bigger than you!
I was told by my doctor after I had mine to NOT blow my nose! He said it was the "B" word and freaked when I asked him if I could blow. So no blowing for a while! I remember having to swab it out with a Q-tip which was pretty nasty.Ah I do remember something gross. You get little scabbies in your nose from the inscisions and they come out when you blow your nose....bleh! I would say you will pay anywhere from 4-10k.
I was told too that it takes up to a year to fully heal. I also had to rub the sides of it for a while on a regular basis. But I'm still very happy I did it. I hated my nose before.

I lightly blew my nose, I couldn't take it. I used a qtip for about the first week. How long did you wait afterwards to blow your nose?
It's been over ten years since I had my nose done but I seem to recall using that damn Q-tip for a while! I just remember my doctor freaked when I said the "B" word so I couldn't blow it for a while. Now I can't stop blowing my damn nose. I think my allergies have gotten worse since having a nose job but it could be coincidence.
Ok, A while ago I posted I was doing this.... I got my nose done earlier today. I feel like ass.... Really lousy like I have the worst cold with a severe sinus infection. Its my second surgery on my nose plus I did more things like a little amount of fat transfer to my nasolabial folds (laugh creases) and a little to the cheeks. Im sooooo swollen. Packing in my nose which I didnt have the first time around. I just hope this surgery comes out better and its my last. He did an open rhinoplasty and he looked under and saw some crooked bone/ cartilage. My first didnt heal correctly. I think I posted why in my last post. I guess for me, 2nd time around is a liitle worse than the first.
I just looked at my post from a while ago and i didnt post why . i had hit my nose hard opening a heavy wooden bathroom door a week after the splint came off. i ddint realize how bad because my mans friend were spiking their drinks with GHB and I picked up the wrong drink. i dont remember bleeding. I was pissed off at his friends about it. They didnt do it on pupose either. I dont mess with that GHB shit. Its and evil drug esp w/ booze!!!
i had one and I am pissed b/c i am going to another nose doc in july for a consult.. Well, not a consult.. more to schedule surgery.
What i am trying to say is.. Try and go to a good doc the first time, even if you have to wait.
I went to an ent around here and he did an ok job, but not what i wanted. Overly conservative. Now i have to go to Miami and pay out of pocket instead of using my insurance like i did the first time b/c of my deviated septum... which by the way i think is still deviated!
tampa....you're not the first person I heard say that. I think that's a common complaint with rhinoplasty.

A stupid question... what do you do about sneezing, post-op? I sneeze *all* the time (mild allergies during springtime, a hint of pepper, even plucking an eyebrow can bring it on!). I probably go through a box of tissues every week just from sneezing.
Anyway, if you can't blow your nose, sneezing sounds like it must be really bad, too... how is it dealt with? Not that I'm intending a nose job, but I'm curious - admittedly, I sneeze way more than most, but I can' t be the only one who is prone to sneezing a lot.
I know this is a really dumb question but I'm going to ask anyhow: what do you guys mean by find a good doc? I guess what I mean is...what determines a good nose job doctor?
experience, backround, professionalism, clear history of botched jobs, referrals...etc
also before and after photos. Rhinoplasty4you.com < some nice referrals there> and a bunch of before and afters.
thanks
