    Default seasonal pollen allergies

i have this. it is horrid. i get asthma and pneumonia. yikes! this does prevent me from working as i have a VERY hard time breathing and get a large amount of fluid buildup in my lungs.

i have some allegra and flonase which i usually take for it. claritin doesnt work. now here's my ?:

i've been checking out the pollen counts online for my area and while my allergies arent acting up, pollen counts are high right now. is it better to take the medicine now as a preventative so i dont get sick? or should i just wait til my allergies start acting up. what do you girls do?

yes, i made a doc appointment, but may go elsewhere earlier and also get an allergy test done so i can pinpoint them better.

I myself dont take anything until they start acting up and even then i wait until its unbearable. i think by doing that ill not have allergies as bad eventually. i dont know if its true or not but it makes me feel better!

Scarymary77...... the first line treatment for seasonal allergies is Flonase, which is a nasal steroid. The key to using Flonase is daily use, not "as-needed" use. Once you start Flonase, you should take it daily, even if you do not have symptoms. Also, if the Flonase and Allegra alone do not relieve all symptoms, it would not hurt to add Singulair to your regimen.
