Default Clothing store dressing room lighting...

Am I the only person who looks like shit in the dressing rooms when trying on clothing? I swear either I'm getting really gross or they just have the most unflattering light in those damn dressing rooms. I swear it's like in every store.

I really know what you're talking about. I always look like crap. At an old restaurant that i used to work at, for some reason they had the BEST lighting in the women's washroom and it always made me feel soooo hot! I miss that lighting....

Don't you think that stores would make alot more money if they introduced lower, sexier lighting. Maybe even candles?

This is why I buy clothes - take them home... try them on in MY lighting and return if needed. I never buy from places that dont take returns or have some BS policy like mailing my a check within 60 days (seriously)...

I do that a lot of times because I'm too lazy to wait in line too, but the lighting is another good reason. I never thought of that.

You're not the only one. I HATE that lighting. Just a few weeks ago I'd been working out constantly and eating right... I was feeling good about myself, so I went to the mall for a new outfit. Holy cellulite! I'm never looking at the back of my legs in a dressing room again!

Overhead lighting is the worst.Ambient lighting is the best.

This is exactly what I'm talking about! I went into Bebe, Ann Taylor, and Saks. And Bebe has these fucking dressing rooms that are all around the store with curtains that don't completely shut so I'm thinking not only do I look like a nasty old fatass in here but everyone can peek at me.

i find some places have insanely flattering lighting though (Club Monaco and Banana Republic in my mall)...and yeah, it makes me more likely to buy their clothes. If I'm ever feeling thin, the best remedy is seeing my ass in most clothing store changerooms, no doubt

so westshore was the devil this time! Yea, i have the same problem with lighting. But i get really pissed if i buy something expensive that i thought would look great, and i end up having to return it. I HATE RETURNING things.

Those mirrors are like fun house mirrors. They never actually portray what you truly look like.

I'm insecure enough about trying on bathing suits...never mind looking into distorted mirrors that make you look like you have more cellulite than you really do!

yep, evil Westshore Mall! And it took all my money too dammit! I swear I ask myself when I look in the mirror in some stores "Is that what I REALLY look like? God! I should start wearing a bag on my head and just dress like a man."

I hate returning things too. And I really hate when I go through a store and pick up ten things that I think will look great on me and they all look awful.

ok i feel better now...so maybe i'm NOT that hideous? that's one reason i've come to hate shopping...going into the dressing room makes me feel like an ogre and makes me have low self-esteem moments, even if i felt semi-attractive before. of course there is also the opposite problem sometimes...places that have mirrors and lighting that makes you look better, then you get home and your mirror shows that what you just bought really makes your ass look like the side of a barn, lol!

LOL.. Omg, I too hate looking at those friggin mirrors, they're like telescopes...see shit i never seen before.
I just try on clothes, take an overall look quickly to see if it fits then i'm outta there w/the quickness.

Ran into this yesterday actually! Got in the changing room which had mirrors on every wall of the stall. Took one look at my ass, got dressed and went straight to the gym and proceeded to do several sets of squats and lunges. The good news is that changing room motivated me. The bad news is I'm having a hard time sitting down today Glad to hear it's not just me

There's this GREAT dancer store in AZ that has a changing room with a blacklight in it. I won't show anywhere else for my dancer outfits.

I actually really like the fact that dressing-room lighting is bad (or any fluorescent really, makes everyone look green-faced, cellulitey, zitty and monstrous.) That way, I can tell right away if a piece of clothing doesn't work for me. If it's a "maybe" in a dressing room, it'll be a "yes" on the stage. And I comfort myself by knowing everyone else looks horrible under those lights too.

    But then I'm a glass-half-full type. :-)
