I really want to share this... it IS about stripping, but not in the way most posts here are.
A while back, a SW member named playwright posted looking for dancers to interview for a play he was working on. Being near my area, and professing to want to give a realistic view of dancers, I jumped on the chance and met up with him to interview. I got to meet one of the actresses involved, and we had a pleasant lunch/interview.
Well, this past Saturday I got to see the final performance of the production. I was in awe. I heard my own words and damn near cried watching a production that showed the truth about who we are and can be, what we do and can feel, how we do and can think. This wasnt romanticized or dramatized like every other media version of stripper-ness. This was real. And it got amazing reviews and reactions. I am so proud to have helped in the making of something that shows that we are just as real and normal and true as anyone else in the world.
When the cast and crew thanked ME for helping, I really did cry a bit. I wanted to thank them for wanting to and actually telling the truth, and there they were thanking me. Wow.
To the amazing people of Empty Spaces Theatre... thank you, and much love. You've done what I've wanted to see done for 10 years.
