Well, I've heard about some of those places.

The French Laundry would be a great place to go. EVERYONE who works there also works in the gardens and what not where they pick their own veggies and such. They even have to kill and butcher their own rabbits and other meats.

i'm not too impressed with what I've seen from Charlie Trotter's place. He's talked about a lot in the culinary school I go to, but I'm just not too impressed with him myself.

Gordon Ramsey had his own show on some major network a few years ago. Not too impressed with him either.

and Per Se is suppose to be a good one too.

I'm VERY surprised that K-Paul's in New Orleans is not on there!

This list seemed a little vague and biased to me...I can think of plenty of restaurants that deserve to be on that list, but since they aren't in France or Britain they weren't included. To each is own, I guess.

though it may be a good list i dont think that it should be titled 50 BEST. the best is only a matter of opinion. yes it takes a lot to be world renound and they may have great chefs working there but that doesnt mean they are the best. IMO some of the best restaurants, chefs and regular old cooks go unnoticed because they dont cook to be known they cook for the pure enjoyment, passion and love of cooking and food. sometimes no one knows about them except neighborhood folks.(sorry my boyfriend is an ex-chef and ive learned many things about the passion of food from him and by reading all they chef books he has)
