What exactly caused it? Did you get a scratch or cut on your booty that got infected?
What are symptoms to look out for ?

Skin turns red, painful to the touch, warm, and hard/swollen. Then a pocket of pus may start to form.

I had one on my face once when I was 15. Big, oozing, nasty scabs running green drippy pus. Most of them were the size of dimes and quarters. Not pretty. Make sure your club keeps the stage CLEAN.

Yeah, those are nasty, but at least they don't have to be drained.

That flesh eating bacteria is derived from staph. I work in a hospital so I know how bad little cuts can get. Just the chaffing from giving a vigorous dance is enough to break some peoples skin. Not to mention what some of these men have on their pants!

Kinda. Everyone has bacteria on his/her skin. Staphylococcus strains are some of the most abundant bacteria out there. These infections can happen whenever a particularly aggressive strain makes its way into a break in the skin barrier. Also, people are more likely to get these skin infections / abscesses if they have immune system deficiencies (diabetics, HIV, chemotherapy, etc). For the most part though, people are exposed to Staph throughout their lives without getting serious infections.

    Where is Staphylococcus aureus found?
    Noses, hands, and cuts.

Most of us are carrying it around constantly, but most of us are also carrying a relatively benign strain that only becomes a problem when we have serious wounds. Even slighty more virulent strains can become a problem in cuts, however, and there are some extremely virulent strains out there. Just another arguement for dancers that grind a lot (especially dancers at mid- to high-contact nude clubs) to place a towel across the customers' laps (not to mention how scratchy cheap dress pants feel on your ass.)

For me it looked like the little bumps u get on ur booty when u sweat o around ur period like lil pimples. then a few hours later they were the size of quarters.... it spreads like pink eye... if u get it dont touch it and touch another area of ur body, or anybody else.

So whenever you get a small cut, just have to disinfect it quickly then cover it up to avoid it?

I went to the doctor today because I havent been feeling to hot, and he diagnosed me having a sinus infection along with a staph infection on my scalp. On my scalp for crying out loud....damm!! If its not one thing its another.

He gave me some antibiotics and said if If the staph infection doesnt get better with in 4 days that I should go see a dermetologist.

I didnt ask him if I should stafy off of work for awhile because of the staph infection or not.

Reading all the posts about staph infections is starting to make me worry. I keep racking my brain trying to figure out how I got it on my scalp. Can you get it from a hair dresser?

I had an abcess on one of my boobies...about an inch across too....there's still a small scar there. The doctor gave me cephalexin, an antibiotic, which worked but wreaked havoc on my digestive system. And it doesn't matter how clean you are, I'm as clean as a whistle but all it takes is a little staph bacteria on the skin and there ya go.

Another time, a few years ago, I had a small cut above my right eye near my eyebrow from playing sports. I noticed it began to swell out later that night, and the next day when I woke up, there was an abcess there so large that my eyelid was nearly swollen shut. I had to go to the emergency room and have them give me an ANTIBIOTIC DRIP ...that's how badly infected this cut had gotten. If it weren't for my health insurance, that drip would have cost me 1600 dollars...pretty damn pricey to get rid of a staph infection on my eye.

Painfully they then lanced and dressed it, and I had to wear a patch over my whole eye, and this was just from a small cut about a fourth of an inch near my brow.

I looked like the Asian One Eyed Jack pirate.

i had cellulitis, caused by staph bacteria on the back of my knee. it went from "oh i think it's a bug bite" to "hmm it kinda looks a pimple" to "holy fuck what is this godawful blisterish pimple the size of a nickel doing on the back of my fucking knee?!" in about a day.

the red are surrounding it was about as big as a graperuit with "fingers" going down my leg. doc cut it open and drained it and it was some of the nastiest shit i have ever seen. kinda like a mini soggy cucumber. eeeeesh.

i feel ya. the back of your knee is bad, but ass.... is definitely worse.

Dammit, I have two staph infections. One on my thigh, and one on my foot. No idea how or where I got them...unless it was that time I rolled around in a barrel of staphylococcus...

I'm so sick. I have this IV thingie in my hand, and have to go get IV antibiotics twice a day. It's sort of scary, especially since I'd previously never been to a hospital before. They also cut up the abcess on my thigh, I'm gonna have a sexy scar.

    *whine*

What the hell? The doctors and nurses are all very vague with me..."oh, it happens"...when I asked if it meant I had a weakened immune system, they said no...but really, two seperate infections at once? I don't know, I'm worried. Any experience with staph? Am I more susceptible to future infections now? Because this sucks, I never want to be on antibiotics ever again.

this is why i have such a problem with doctors prescribing antibiotics willy nilly... someone has a cough or cold, they give them antibiotics... then these strains of SIMPLE staph aureus get used to the antibiotics, and arent affected by them anymore... theres tons of different kinds of staph, but with people taking something for everything little thing, it just keeps getting worse and worse...

i dont mean this for any of you personally.. i just mean in general... and for those of you dealing with this, i really really hope it gets better soon!!!!!!!!! good luck!!!!!!!!

I know, it bugs me too. I never take antibiotics unless absolutely necessary, and here I am on a drip twice daily now. PLUS two different antibiotics in pill form daily too! They're worried it's MRSA, I guess, but I'm getting better so thankfully I guess it's not.

I had staph for the first time after I got into a car accident. My dr said I probably caught it in the hospital while I was there in the ER makin sure everything was ok after the wreck. Believe it or not, hospitals are where a LOT of people get them... About 8 months later, we went on a tubing trip, where you tube down a long river for about 4 hours.. so my honny and I stop off at the bank somewheres to do it, and I had a cut on my leg and it got all dirty, and ended up getting infected and I got another one. Staph tends to stay in your blood stream, and can stay in your system for about a year. You usually get it when your immune system is down.. I think I got it the 2nd time bc of my experiementing with meth.. which is also VERY common...

After Hurricane Katrina, it was also going around.. A friend of mine got a boob job in baton rouge, and caught a stab infection in her implant!!! It got extremely infected and her implant ended up popping and putting her in the hospital for a few weeks.. She had to take them out, and has to wait another year to get them done again

The "flesh eating" bacteria is actually a form of Streptococcus (also extrememly common). The condition itself is called necrotizing fasciitis.
