Default Photo shoot - application to dance overseas

I am trying to contact some agencies that recruit exotic dancers for clubs in Tokyo. Obviously, the crucial point is the photos, since there is no actual auditioning in this case. Now, I seem to be a very lucky girl since a gf who is studying photography and graphic arts is visiting in a few days. She has offered to do my photos for free And I love her for that. I am wondering if you have any suggestions on things to be aware of (pose, hair-do, whatever you think might be important). The only thing the agency has told me is that if I arrive in Tokyo 10 pounds heavier than in the photos, I will be sent home (well, this was obvious to me - I am hired to deliver a product, I have to respect the rules).

Just take a variety of poses. Make sure your face is clear, get in alot of body shot poses. Front poses, side, back too. Do not pose nude, but wear skimy swimwear, some lingerie. Make the focus be on the model, not on the props!

    Good luck,

You may also want to pose in long dresses or gowns so they can 'see' what you look like in such attire. Any particular reason why you are going to Japan? Just that it isn't as lucrative as it used to be...... alot has changed.

Thank you for your answers! Actually, I am not going to Japan just in order to dance :-) I have to dance in order to go to Japan. I have never danced yet (I live in Paris, France). I have the chance to go to Tokyo for an internship (duration: 3 months) (which is important for my CV), but these internships pay so little that my living costs would be barely covered (let alone air-tickets - and did I mention the fact I already have student debts?). The idea is that an internship is offering you valuable experience on which one can capitalise when entering the real job market. So, that is how I came to consider dancing as an option. I am somehow confused about the "hostess" option peculiar to Japan. But, between pretending to have a conversation all night long and dancing, I very much prefer the latter :-). Any advice would be welcome! I have been making a list of agencies and clubs to contact (trying to verify their credentials, when possible), but I need the photos in order to apply. Just to give you the picture of how desperately broke I am, I have not even had a waxing for several months, and I do not own a camera :-) Now that I mention that, I do not even own a long dress! My only asset as a potential dancer is my ability to walk and dance on 5 inches heels (no platforms)! And of course, my self-confidence, which I hope will outlive the harsh times to come in Japan :-) I am trying to brace myself so as not to chicken off! This forum has been a great help so far...

P.S. I know I talk too much. It must be a french thing! :-)

...at first, I thought it would be impossible to spend all day long at an office and all night long at a club. Usually for dancers who book from abroad, there are hardly any days off. But then I read some posts, and there are dancers who go to school full time, have families or whatever. I will only be doing this for three months, so I hope I survive.

    Hi there !

Why don`t you go to Hustler or Stringfellows and give it a try in Paris to see what it`s like..I`m sure it`d help you a lot in Japan... Also, if you made some money you`d be able to buy a few dresses ;o)

    Just a thought

Unfortunately, miss_woot alot of the "gaijin" (sp?) strip clubs do require 6 night working weeks ... and on top of that (if you have done a search for Japan in this section) you will be expected to go on 'dates' with customers before the start of your shift. I have no idea if you will be able to be granted a little reprieve from the 6 night work week and the 'outcalls' (not sex - just dinner or shopping or similiar activity usually before you head to the club with the client/customer).

Is it at all possible for you to start dancing in France at one of the 'local' clubs before you head off on your internship ?

    Hey miss-woot
i think you should come to dance in japan! I am an exotic dancer in a foreign club in tokyo. clubs pay girls pretty well (=10000 to 13000yen per night)and you can get a lots of tips considering that each customer pays minimum 1000yens (=10dollars) for your stage dance. moreover you can get more money if customers buy you drinks or if they want a private dance with you.

^^LMFAO! Like hell you are an exotic dancer! More like an agency masquerading as an exotic dancer. At least be honest. Noone on SW was born yesterday.
