Default Congress busts the budget again

Voted to lift the debt limit for the budget.

That is now over $30,000 each man, woman, and child in the US has to pay back now (I won't throw in the interest payments on top of that.)

Hows it feel to be 30 grand in debt? Cuts into the spending money?

Don't worry - the government will sieze your home in an emminent domain case to build some nice tax generating offices, casino's, and condo's to cover your part.

    Disgusting.

The vote in the senate was 52-48, with all Democrats voting against.

hey, no problemo ... gov'ts printing presses can produce $30,000 worth of brand new paper sheets with president's faces printed on them in green ink in less than a minute ! Printing up new treasury notes in big dollar denominations is even quicker !

Obviously, this choice on the part of congress was the least of three evils. The greater evil would have been to increase tax rates significantly, and the greatest evil would have been to actually reduce gov't spending significantly!

I would also add for the sake of accuracy that this congressional vote did not actually alter the budget in any way ... only allowed the gov't to continue paying for budget items approved in previous years / decades, the cost of which continues to grow with each passing year / decade.
