    Default Stupid Internet Question

Nobody else I know uses windows, so I have nowhere else to turn.
I use Firefox, and it periodically purges my internet history and bookmarks. No idea if I am causing this, or what I am doing to cause this. But the whole point of having bookmarks is to, you know, be able to refer to them later. So I'm pretty sure it isn't just normal. Anyone know what to do about this?

Well, I go into Tools, options, privacy, and then I change my settings to 0. I have no history in my computer.

Info that I want saved, I save into my bookmarks and those never get erased. I hope that helps.

Conversely, take the route to which CK is referring, and increase the number of days in your history. For example, I have my history set for 365 days, so I never have to worry about forgetting a web address and I can always find a site I visited previously.

As to losing your bookmarks, that sounds more like you're losing your Firefox profile or it's being corrupted. Go to this address in your system:

    C:\Documents and Settings\(whatever the user name is)\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\default.lcr

In this folder you'll find your bookmarks and bookmarks backup, in addtion to all your other profile data for that user. In the Profiles folder, you may find one or more folders given random names. This happens when the base Profile is either damaged or corrupted. Check inside there to see if your bookmarks list within is current (just double-click on the HTML file that says Bookmarks). You can just copy and past that file into any Profile folder to recover those bookmarks (or you can import them from within Firefox itself).

PM for additional assistance if necessary.

Yes, I have mine set to zero too, so if God forbid my mom, brother, or anyone else asks to use my computer I don't need to scramble to erase all the naughty things I like to look at.

Thats why you go to start > control panel > user management > create new user.
