Just back from it.
I wasn't disappointed. It is far more intelligent than most movies out there. You do have to listen in the beginning kinda closely though - don't worry - he doesn't talk like that through the whole thing.

IMHO, Portman looks hot with the short hair, though I haven't seen it yet.
This will shock exactly no-one but i've had that Graphic Novel for years. Always dug that story, though i like League of Extraordinary Gentlemem a lot more as far as Alan Moore goes (Forget the shitty movie).

I was gonna see this last night but got too drunk to be driving in the rain on a Friday night with St. pattys day going on with Cops in full force.

i just saw it and thought it was pretty good. natalie portman is as hot as ever.
I just saw it tonight and liked it okay but it seemed pretty long and I got a little confused at times, but then I get confused in a lot of movies...

The movie was awesome.
Remember, remember, the fifth of November....

I thought this movie kicked ass! I am all about Revolutionary. Natalie Portman was superb.
"Go Confidently in the Direction of Your Dreams...Live the Life You Have Imagined" -- Henry David Thoreau
"You Will Be Successful in Business and Married Life" -- Fortune Cookie
EVERYONE is talking about how great this movie is... I remember seeing the previews and wanting to see it... It's not scary, is it?
i cant wait to see this movie

oooh, i'd been totally nerding out in anticipation for this for several weeks and saw it opening day! i'm a huge fan of alan moore, i can't decide if v has surpassed the league as my favorite. i didn't even know that there was a movie version until i recieved my copy of the book from amazon a couple months ago that had "now a major motion picture!" scrolled across the top.
i really thought the movie adaptation was well done (though you notice, while david lloyd is credited, you never see moore's name), dare i say REALLY well done. of course i have SOME beef with a few omissions/changes but overall, much exceeded expectations. anyone who wants to start a spoiler thread discussing either the book or the movie has my total DORK support.
well i just saw this movie and, being a comic book guy myself (NOT like the Simpsons, thankyouverymuch) i have to say this:
1) It was different from the book but then it had to be. The book was longer and for a general movie audience it had to be 'streamlined' for them to 'get it'. Do yourself a favor: If you've seen the movie, no go read the book. Or have someone read it to you. Could be more fun that way.
2) All in all an excellent movie. I went to see it with someone who hasn't read the book and even she liked it. If you like movies with a message "people shouldn't be afraid of their government, a government should be afraid of its people." then this is for you.
Personally, my favorite line was "Actually what you have is guns, with bullets, and the hope that when you're out of bullets i'm no longer standing and that i don't kill you before you have a chance to reload."
Moore washed his hands of hollywood after they fucked him with that shitty League movie.Originally Posted by red diving girl

I just saw it... KICK ASS! I went in expecting a mindless action movie, I was wrong... what a pleasant surprise!

I haven't seen it yet, and will probably wait for the DVD. I, too, have had the comic for...cripes...since HS I think. I do know Evie wasn't as major of a character as she appears to be in the movie. I'm still interested though. Madcap, I thought Moore "washed his hands" after Constantine? Either way, understandable. So, slight threadjack....is the Watchmen movie ever gonna happen now?
waffles are just pancakes with little squares on them.

naturally. though he seemed to have no problems selling the rights to V anyway!Originally Posted by Madcap
Hehe, i read it before it was a graphic novel, back when it was serialized in black and white. I remember being all happy they were collecting it all in one place (At the time the term "graphic novel" didn't exist).Originally Posted by MrChristopher
Evie is a little bigger of a part in the flick, but all the added stuff with her works so well you might trick yourself into remembering it in the original material. She doesn't turn tricks in this one, though.Originally Posted by MrChristopher
Nah, it was having to testify in a copyright infringement lawsuit against the writers of a screenplay called "Cast of characters" that had a similar plot to the LoeG movie. Funny thing is that the LoeG movie followed the League of Extraordinary Gentleman's original story in no way whatsoever (Plus, the original is excellent while the movie was just god-fucking-awful, who sues the people who made a flop like that?). They should have given Don Murphy "Cast" and given a real filmmaker "League."Originally Posted by MrChristopher
And someone's planning Watchmen. Jude Law is interested in being in it, for starters.
He didn't sell them, because he never owned them. DC owns V, League, and Watchmen, killing joke, etc... That's why Moore doesn't work for DC comics anymore.Originally Posted by red diving girl
I don't even think Moore gets a check for Watchmen anymore.
actually, Evey was quite the major character in the book. heck, she BECAME V at the end of the story. There were some major changes from book to script, but i agree: i can't wait for the DVD to see what didn't make it in.
As to the Watchmen, i'm guessing since they've proven it can make money it probably has a better hope now, i'm just curious as to how much they'll streamline it as well for mass consumption and understanding...
I played hookie from work yesterday and went to see this movie....WOW! I loved it.

Just saw it and loved it. Never read the book. I got goosebumps, especially the end. Very well done.
...and I've always had this thing for coincidences. So that spoke to me- especially the scene with the brief Chan Marshall song (which was also on the soundtrack for "The Secret Lives of Dentists"). I freaked- since buying a Cat Power CD on Sunday I've been listening to all her stuff obsessively. Bizarre.
But is it just me or does Natalie Portman look ten pounds thinner since Closer?
I don't think it's all that nessecary to have read the book to enjoy this flick. In fact, Molly, i'm envious. I wonder what i'd have thought of it if i didn't know what was gonna happen next?

er, i stand corrected. how torturous it would be to have your hard work and art sold to the highest bidder like that. sheesh. hope he gets some of the $ anyway.
Yeah. natalie seemed reaaaaal thinner than i remember her being. she was always small...ill just say it. never as FLAT.
