Default is it awkward if you see someone you know?

I'm gonna be going to school in San Francisco, but all my classes are going to be online, so it won't be awkward if I see someone I know from class or something. But I do live in the bay area, very close to San Francisco, and that's where all the good clubs around here are.

So I was wondering, has anyone ever seen someone they know, someone they go to school with or someone they used to work with at a club? And what was it like when it happened?

I live in the same town that I work in, so people I went to school with and guys I know come in all the time. It can be somewhat awkward at first, but you get used to it as you get more comfortable with the job. Sometimes it seems like the guy is feeling more awkward about seeing me than I am about seeing him.
Take the road less traveled- just make sure you have a map.

SF is ia big town, so unless you live in a neighborhood entirely populated with horny strip-club going dudes, it's unlikely you'll see anyone you know. I live in a much smaller city, and this has only happened to me a few times in a year and a half of dancing. Once an old professor of mine came into the club...I recognized him right away and avoided him, but he didn't seem to know who I was, though he asked another girl my name and said I "looked familiar." A few times I've been out in public, the grocery store or some such, and caught myself making awkward eye contact with some guy and wondering why he looked familiar, then realizing it was probably from work.

this actually happened to me last night-- an old acquintance and his cousin came in while i was working. i think the only way to deal with it is to treat it with humor and also not show any shame or embarrassment. hopefully you don't feel either of those feeings about being a dancer, and just because you see somebody who you knew from "before" doesn't mean your attitude should change at all. i have always been very open and adventurous, and so i always treat my work as a natural extension of my personality when i encounter former acquantainces. it's worked for me so far. i've even had several guys i know say that they are embarrassed for me to find out that they frequent SCs!! HA!

i was worried so much about this too. i had to get over it last night though! i used to be an instructor in the navy and one of my students came in last night. he went on and on about how he thought i was so hot and blah blah BLAH! he then went outside to use his phone to call everyone he knew at the command. i figured i could take this one of two ways. hide in the dressing room was option numero uno. but if i do that he gets the feeling of power becaue he knows i am not comfortable the situation turns way bad and i make no money. option number two. do my thing. i choose this one. i went into hustle over drive and worked up a sweat on stage. when asked what i thought about him telling people. well he is going to do it anyways, i think it will be a good thing. more people coming in with money. i am not ashamed, i knew this would happen eventually. take any problematic situation and look at it at a different angle. is there something to gain? i had an awesome night last night and tonight will be better. take care, katie

You have no idea how many people I know went into the club I work at. I don't work far away from home (not a good idea), so once in a while, I'll see neighbours, people that work at the grocery store (to which I go almost every day)...once I saw the the brother of the owner of the company I used to work for. I used to be a secretary there, and I had quit because 'I wanted to travel' (or that's what I told him anyway'). I was so embarrassed!! The worst part was that he went in again the following week, and wanted to buy a dance!

If they see you there then they're just as guilty as you in my opinion.

I see them, I keep my mouth shut. If they tell anyone they saw me, they're also telling everyone they were there.

YOU won't be embarrassed... They'll either be with a wife or gf or just be straight out embarrassed and leave you alone... Or they'll think you're the same way OUT of work as you are IN work. Some guy recognized me at school once and started following me around. I tried to lie but he knew. I wasn't embarrassed, though... I was pissed.
