    Default "the block" in Baltimore

so i've been working at one of the clubs on the Block, only for a week now. I actually like it there, at least for a "first club". They really don't care if or when you show up, and there seems to be decent money...

...but i'm wondering about the possibility of being raided. anyone else here who's familiar with the clubs there and/or city politics in relation to the clubs? I'm interested to hear your take on the area and the raid thing. It would seem that the block is relatively safe for downtown Bmore since the police station is a block away...on the other hand, given the reputation these clubs have for rampant extras and supposed prostitution...maybe having the station a block away is actually a really bad thing!

That's the only thing that really worried me about working here...the possibility of a raid. It's freaking RIDICULOUS that they can just come in and charge every dancer in the place with prostitution even if they personally weren't doing anything wrong...that scares me, b/c i don't do extras and won't budge on that...and to think that i could get arrested and be forced to pay out the ass to clear my name makes me scared and angry at the same time.

I think the likelihood of a raid would be reduced if i wasn't working on the block...but then again, i'm a newbie and don't really know all that much I do recall reading something in the citypaper about how police suppsedly won't make trouble for the block clubs b/c they generate a ton of $ in taxes...but i don't know if there's any truth to that.

Any feedback, opinions, experiences, etc. with the Bmore block clubs or hell, police raids in general?

Why don't you check out the washington dc clubs? From what I've read, many of the women in your area prefer to work down there rather than in Baltimore.

The police station is "a block away?" I'm sure you know that's irrelevant. Haven't you noticed the 27 cop cars with flashing lights blocking every intersection around the Block at closing? The White House doesn't get that kind of protection. That's even including the Secret Service patrolling the White House roof with shoulder-launched Stinger missiles. I think the Block might actually be more closely watched.

The Block has the oddest political culture. The cops are literally everywhere. On the other hand, most of the clubs on the Block are waaaayy over the line into the extras category. Only the Hustler club retains the "clean" rep and actually has good money for dancers. The new Scores, which just opened and is owned by club owners who were shut down some time back, is trying to be the other clean club on the Block.

There is also a lot of street action in ways that just defy comprehension. Girls will accost you on the street, throw their arms around you, jump in your car and smile sweetly, all in plain view of 3 cop cars with flashing lights blocking traffic 30 feet away. It's just the cutest thing. That's not my game at all, but I have a lot of admiration for their persistence. It's almost impossible for me to get from the Hustler club to my car without a working girl deciding she's going to jump in my BMW and go home with me, whether I want to or not.

When it comes down to raids, you are much safer in the "cleaner" clubs.

The reason many dancers make the run to DC is that the money is good, the clubs are clean and there its a zero-contact environment (lap dancing is illegal, and that's actually enforced). About 30% of the dancers in my home club in DC make the run down from Bmore.

hmm! i'd always kind of ignored DC as an option, mainly b/c i'm not familiar with the city and it would take me an hour to get there. But if the $ is good...and no lapdancing??? wow.

i'm thinking of auditioning for Kaos in Towson actually, b/c i'm going to towson U. in the fall for my second degree. But then again, I'm going to be working in DC in the fall (support staff for a touring Cirque du Soleil show), so i might as well familiarize myself with the city sooner than later!

    Thanks for the input

I can tell you for a fact there is no money at kaos in towson. Don't work there unless you are happy making about 150 a shift, maybe 200 on weekends.

it depends on what club you work for on the block, say if you work for hustler, that no you have no worries of that simply cause of the rules and everyone abides by them, but if you work for one of the others.....well from what im told if they are getting raided then they deserve it.
