Default Scarless surgery in our lifetime?

I'm probably going to have a breast lift in the next year or two, because I don't want to go bigger and I don't depend on my body appearance for a living anymore. The thing that bums me out is the extensive and permanent scarring, so I've been doing research on scar prevention. I came across this U.K. company:

They produce a number of products to address/prevent scarring, one of which is called Juvista. It's injected in the wound margins at the time of surgery and again the day after, and the result is at least 70% less scarring; often none at all. .

They've finished Phase II clinical trials in the UK and clinical trials by the FDA probably won't begin here until 2008, but damn, wouldn't this be amazing. Of course, my vain self is only thinking of cosmetic applications but there are others as well - preventing scarring after massive internal trauma (such as in a car accident), no cornea scarring after eye surgery.

    Science is cool.

Go to wadsworthmedical.com, it's my dad's website. He's producing a sutureless wound closure device that bonds with the skin. Supposedly, it incorporates transdermal medication to speed the healing process. He won some grant from MIT last year and hopefully he'll be able to make it grow. I personally hate stitches and the scars they leave.

^Is it like Dermabond, the purple stuff? My ps used that on my boob job incisions.

That Renovo stuff looks incredibly promising. 2008 isn't that long off, actually.

    this is so cool

I bet people were thrilled when disolvable stitches came out, but they are horrible. I'm having a reaction to them right now as they are disolving. Apparently this is quite common.

A reaction like itching, or something worse?

A good friend had a BA through the nipple and the incision was closed with Dermabond. She had some kind of reaction to it and it caused hypertrophic scarring.

It's kind of different I think. I don't know too much about it, but from what I understand Dermabond works as a glue that holds the two surfaces of an incision together, where I think Derma-lock works more like a zipper where there are two strips that have similar constitutions to nicotine patches with inter-lockable snaps. I guess the original objective was to close larger insicions like tummy-tucks and organ transplants, but supposedly it works on the small scale too. Renova sounds really great too, I only wish they had some of this stuff around whenever I've needed stitches :/

yeah, and he made it sound like it happens all the time and it's no big deal...and prescribed an antibiotic. I tried to pick it up ealrier but it wasn't in. I'll go back.

It sucks because I can't work like this. It's weeping so I have to have something to absorb it. A pastie makes it worse.

yeah, I just consider this part of the healing process.

I'm just looking on the bright side. i'd rather it reject stitches than the implant.

But it makes me hate stitches. I've been doing some reading on this. It's pretty common for the body to do this, and obviously not everyone is getting them for elective surgery, so it's going to be nice if they can come up with something better.

A lot of women on the c-section boards were complaing about it.
