Ok, just for clarification, I was referring to the super-tapered leg skinny jeans; not just straight leg cut.

are you kidding me??? i loooooooove these jeans and they are so in style right now. I have 3 pairs, 2 are tsubi and 1 are true religion. the true religion ones are AMAZING! i understand how you can hate them on larger ppl, or curvy girls but on the right girl they look soooo good.

I also agree kind of with the punk rock boy pants comment. thats why i was picky with the jeans that i bought and what i wear them with, although they still look great when i dress punkish.

oh dear God. Well that makes a big difference to me. Fuck no I won't wear tapered jeans. I had no clue they were "back." I was referring to the straight leg, cigarette type skinny jeans.

Yup...that's the type we wore back then in my hair band humping, trashy groupie days.

I like being able to breathe in and out like a normal person. When I look back on pix of myself in those things, I cringe. I was only about 90 lbs, so it was not being fat that worried me...they made me look even more skinny!

How's that saying go? If it was in stlye once in your youth, don't do it again... something to that effect.

To the young : have fun!

Me, I'm glad I'm no longer allowed to shimmy into a pair of those!

Oh, I know what you are talking about now. I didn't know those were back in either! I used to wear those ones with the little zippers at the ankle back in the '80s so I guess those were skinny jeans. I liked them then. I have big thighs and skinny legs so somehow I don't think now that would be flattering. It sounds like it would just accentuate the bad aspects of my figure. I need jeans that even me out. I guess the thing about jeans though is we are all made different so it's good there are all different kind of jeans to compliment every body type.

OMG, I subscribe to a fashion newsletter and this was one of the links in this week's installation. I'm officially scared of skinny jeans.

Lol, I'm too young to have worn them in the 80s, (However way back when I could rock diapers like no other ) so I've been trying to find some cute ones, and they didn't look bad, but the ones that fit evenly were EXPENSIVE!

Um no people with hips are not allowed to wear them either. So you have to have no hips or 85lbs to fit into them. (ie nicole richie body http://closer.joueb.com/images/003.jpg )

That site was great! Thanks for the link.

I am guilty of most of that list. The 80's was MY TIME...considering I was in HS for the first part and turned 21 in 1987...got to be New Wave then turned into a metal/glam rock chick.

    I hate getting old, lol. I would never dress that way these days but seeing it on some of the younger girls makes me a bit wistful...{sniffle}

I've been giggling to myself about the come-back of 80s style for a while now. I walk through the malls and look in the windows, and get visions of junior high - high school all over again. LOL The bright colors (tons of pink), wide belts just slung around the hips, flats, torn and faded jeans.....80s fashion is coming back girls. Oh I just bought a skirt in Bebe that was oh-so-80s! Heh.

I remember when EVERYBODY said they would NEVER wear 'those god-awful bell-bottoms' - and what happened in the 90s? Everyone started wearing flares, bootcut and bell-bottoms. LOL Just watch girls. It's sooo funny to see a woman who's an obvious 80s or 90s throwback STILL wearing her old style cuz she thinks the new stuff looks stoopid - but she's the one who really looks funny. hehe

Flares and bell-bottoms are out again. Just watch. Yall will be running around looking all out-dated and old if you don't keep up

    Aghhh i'm so not excited!
I have THIGHS...its not the butt that's an issue...if you have bigger thighs and nothing to balance it out on the bottom (and for the record, I wear bootcut not flared or bellbottom) then it adds so much poundage!

I've also seen the leggings with miniskirt thing...but I kind of like it because again, you can wear a miniskirt but have some coverage...Just my two cents anyways

my mom wears jeans like that which means they are a don't, plus if there are more then a small amount of something at a thrift store, they are a don't, and thrift stores are full of skinny jeans.

Im going to post a photo to prove you can wear straight leg jeans and be curvy damnit.

    Im 5 ft 6... 125 ish ( i refuse to know if i weight more lol )

    36 , 24, 38.

And i wear em'. So damnit i'm taking a photo tonight and posting tomorrow. now i'll admit i wont rock these with sneakers. But with heels they are really hot.

and with the bellbottoms... Yah I wore "elephant" bells. the huge 65 in. bottom of course I was rave trash but still. Now i look and say fuck no i'd never wear that shit again. but at the time I loved em'.

OMG, I bet you anything I still have a pair of tapered jeans in the bottom of my closet! lol I"m gonna have to go dig..I bet they are the ones that go up to your belly button too! hahaha

Hell shall freeze over before I slap another pair of those on! And I'm a small chicken legs person, lol They are just too close to the oh so lovely "mom pants"

Remember if your pants weren't tight enough on the bottom and you'd fold the bottom over and roll it up! hahaha

I was a victim of the 80's. Blue eyeshadow/eyeliner & mascara! I also grew up in louisiana, so I had the big aqua net hair too! head bangin to Poison, Skid Row, and any other hair band! woohoo! ROCK ON!

oh god, i'm getting old...shoot me now

i've been wearing skinny jeans and straight legs with my high tops.
