    Legally changing your name

I would like to legally change my last name, and was wondering what the easiest, cheapest, and fastest way to do so without getting stuck with any post-obligations later on.

If anyone has any info on how I would go about this I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks!

You need a lawyer to handle it.

nah, you don't need a lawyer. I had to change my last name..did it a week before I got married (long story as to reasons why). it was a simple process, but it's not that quick. You have to file paperwork, then probably in most states, they have to post it in the paper (classified "legal" section) to see if anyone objects, then you have have to get something notarized.

I think it took me a few weeks to get mine changed. You just need to call the state and they'll direct you where you need to go.

Does anyone know who you file the paperwork with? Like do you go to the court building for your city, or go see a notary first or what? And I want to change both first and last names. Why? Cause I don't like it and people have always made fun of it, and I would just feel more comfortable with a different one. Also, does anyone know if the first name change can be an option at the same time you get married and change the last one?

I guess never mind. Blade's link posted answered pretty much all my questions.

Well, you could marry me, but there might be a post-obligation or two.

Mag - there is NO reason to change your last name to Jojo. I told you it wasn't necessary.

It's easiest to do during a marriage or a divorce.
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.
