    Default kind of gross

    Ok, this is embarrasing, but I have to ask.

    I've had an ingrown hair that turned into a small pimple in my bikini line for a few months now. At least I think it was an ingrown hair. Anyway, I couldn't get it out, so since it was barely visible, I figured it'd be better to let it out by its own. I don't know how, but in just one day, it grew three times as big as it was before, and now it is visible from 3 blocks away.
    How do I get rid of it?? or at least how can I cover it? Please, it looks soooo bad, I just can't go to work like that.
    Thanks

    It could still be an ingrown hair. If it looks like some kind of infection, hold a rag soaked with apple vinigar on it. This sounds crazy but it works. I can't tell you how or why, I just know that I put a rusty nail in my thumb once and my doctor told me to do it as an alternitive to paying crap loads for meds.

    Pop it. It's gross, but when you pop it, the pus will push out the hair, and it will start healing.

    If she trys to pop it and it's not an ingrown hair, she could do some real damage. And even if it is an ingrown hair, she can make it worse.
    DO NOT POP IT
    specialy because you don't know what it is. Besides poping something only makes blood flow into it, which can then make the infection get in your blood stream and make things a lot worse

    Pop it! And then pull the hair out with tweezers. It may look bad, but not as bad as a huge zit thing. Then it will start to heel faster. In grown hairs only get deeper and worse. I pull out my boyfriend's all the time. They only get better!

    Make a paste with some epsom salt and warm water and apply it with a warm washcloth, hold it on for half an hour, you can re-wet the washcoth over and over to keep it warm if you need, it's easiest to do in the bath or shower. DO NOT pop it, it will infect the underlying tissue and leave you with a nasty scar. If you can go to your local PP and have them pull the hair out it is better. Most likely they will tell you to soak in an epsom salt bath and then use a magnified mirror to get the hair with sanitized tweezers. If you poke around and pop it you aren't going to let the hair follicule heal and then you'll probably still have the ingrown hair and a gross sore.

    Ingrown hairs CAN last forever - I had one for at least 2 months once. Like you I ignored it hoping that it would go away, but one day it just blew up and I had to do something about it cause it was totally gross. Of course instead of being responsible about it and taking my ass to the Dr I just jabbed myself with some tweezers and a needle till I had removed the offending hair (and a nice chunk of skin). YUCK!!!

    ~~~ dont be like me, get it taken care of!
    Put a hot compress on it. As hot as you can stand. This should bring all the pus to the surface (a "head"). Then you can barely and i mean BARELY prick the top of it with a sterile lancet (you can get these at the drug store) then cover your fingertips with cotton or tissue and using the pads of your fingers, roll the pus out. This should get rid of all the pus and expose the hair, if that's what it is. If you start to bleed, use some neosprin and stop squeezing.
    Popping a zit is not the end of the world. Just be careful of infection and stuff. Use clean hands and sterial implements.
    The reason I say go to the dr is because one of the girls i work with thought she had an ingrown hair, tried to pop it and it turned out to be an absest of some kind. Because it got infected from poping it, she had to pack the area with gause and was out of work because of it. I hope this isnt the case for you, but better safe than sorry. Also if you cant afford a DR. go to a charity hospital or buy health insurance, Blue Cross and Blue Sheild have a great plan for self employed people.
    I am in the medical field, Yes if you are trying to avoid going to a MD... use a warm compress it will help it heal faster and bring everthing to the surface. Clean the area with iodine before you ever touch it and dont use your finger, use Q-tips (you may have given yourself a boil) only try to pop it if it gets a head. The heat will make it swell more so if what you want is to make it look better fast this wont help, but if you get the hair & infection out it will heal (it will look worse before it gets better). If you keep putting heat on it and it doesnt improve go see a doctor.
    I also say POP IT
    it will only keep growing insdie you & wont get better magically on its own....i get them all the time too and have to tweezer them myself......
    this is what i do and its always worked out well, no problems......i take a wet hot wash cloth and hold it on the spot(or take a bath if i have time), ...i get to the hair and tweezer it out...making sure to get the whole thing.......then i make sure to put some kind of anti bacterial neosporin type product on it...and voila bump gone.....on me the swelling normally goes down to normal in about an hour and i use concealer on any marks while at work
    oooooo PS ...make SURE your tweezers are clean, you def wanna clean the whole "procedure" as clean and germ free as possible......like i said i've never have a problem doing this and i dunno if its my skin or if i do something wrong shaving but i get ingrown hairs ALOT
    I get those on my bikini line occasionally (or even someplace odd like my boob ). Shower, maybe a half hearted try to pop- and then I'll stick a disinfected needle if I see the hair below the skin. I can pull it up to the surface and then try to pluck it.
    I've never had a huge problem with infected hair follicles before, so popping and the needle hasn't every caused me worry.
    I pick out ingrown hairs with a pin until it slides out from under the surface, then pull it out with tweezers.
    Bikini line ingrown hairs can just turn into giant pimple infections -- it happens. Hot compress/pop and then tea tree oil or the antibacterial of your choice should do it. It may look ugly for a while, and I have a scar from one of these in my "area" that's been there for a long time. Guess what? NO ONE has ever noticed.
    PP is Planned Parenthood. Thet charge like a $15 office visit and they will clean it and pull the ingrown hair with a small oscelet and tweezers.
    The point is to remove the ingrown hair with the least amount of chance at infection or scarring. It might look like it has formed a zit but that is just the follicule is blocked and you can't see it. So the warm washcloth will help bring it to the surface so you can see what you are going to tweeze. You can repeat it the hot washcloth several times to make sure you are seeing the hair that is blocking the follicule.
    You can PM me if you want to more as I am finding all the "pop it and dig it out and who cares about how it looks" none-sense rather disturbing for girls that put there bodies on display for money.
