    Default braids?

is it hard for a non-black female to get braids with extensions? i want braids, not micros, but a little bigger than micros. but my hair isnt course so i dont know if it would work. im ready for a change in my hair, im tired of boring straight hair! ive had it permed too, and im also tired of that. ive thought about dreads with extensions, but i dont know if those would work in my hair either! any of you with straight hair ever had anything like this in your hair or have any advice for me? any girls in atlanta know some good stylists i could go to?

No, it woudln't be hard for you at all. There are TONS of natural hair salons in ATL. You are definately in the right place to find someone.

I had micro braids about four years ago when I had short blonde hair. I had extensions braided in that went to the middle of my back and burgundy put underneath so you see it under the blonde it was really pretty and really full. The last 4-5 inches were left unbraided and then curled about half way up. I also left my bangs out because I don't like myself without them, I had short curled "Betty" bangs and it turned out really cool. I have to admit though, as much as I LOVED it I wouldn't be able to withstand the pain again.

Natural hair salons are salons where black/latina women go to get their hair done who have no chemicals in their hair.

Why do you think they'd laugh at you? You're a client Trust me, you aren't the first, for dam sure won't be the last white girl to get braids in her hair. TRUST ME!

Salon 313 in Marietta, GA. They are expensive but they do alot of dancer's extentions in Atl. Including some of the girls at the O. I can hook you up with them if you want to talk to them about their experience with 313. I had extentions sowen (? can't spell) in. I have really fine hair and I'm the whitest white girl you will ever meet. I loved them. But next time I will do the fusion thing at 313, it looks better on fine hair.

I've done braids on women with fine hair (coarse hair isn't necessarily a Black girl trait) to coarse hair, including White women with fine hair. Any skilled technician can do it, but not every one knows how to deal with different textures (it's a matter of control, that's all. Pretty simple if you ask me). I would call for a consultation first, making sure to ask if the technician do braids on what is typically thought of as "White Girl" hair

HA HA HA^ My hair is hard to braid I'm black... I think :-). I would never get them again because of how long it took to take them out of my head.

yeah, black hair isn't typically coarse. if anything, it's often much softer and finer than other ethnicities' hair. which is why braiding fine, thin, straight hair is not a difficult or complicated thing for a braiding stylist to do.
