I've been lurking here for a while. Took me some time to get up the courage to post this. I had a bad thing happen to me last summer (I'll get to that) - hence the name, SecondChance.
One thing I've always dreamed of having was a very nice stereo. Well, I finally went out and got it. NAD receiver, NAD CD player, and Polk LSi9 speakers (oh man, are they sweet!) on Sanus steel stands. It looks beautiful and sounds even better than it looks. I may even refurnish the entire room around it. I have neglected my music collection over the years and was frustrated about how to update it. Trusting the advice of a very nice Counselor I had over the Winter (who has now turned out to be a good friend), I "let myself go" and asked the Cosmos what to do. The answer came to me in my sleep - "google 'stripper + music'".
Well, that led me here, and lo and behold this was just the place I was looking for. You guys have helped me immensely. I just received from amazon the following CDs, based on your advice of course:
Mezzanine - Massive Attack
Conjure One - Conjure One
Burnt Beyond Recognition - Mentallo & The Fixer
October Rust - Type O negative
Closer to God Remixes - NIN
Maxinquaye - Tricky
As The Rush Comes - Motorcycle
Lateralus - Tool
Sensual Sensual - B-Tribe
I am really enjoying these! I have a few more on my list (like some music by those FLA guys), but this should hold me for a while.
That bad thing? Well, last Summer I was training to bike race here in NC. I was training especially hard for the October Time Trial in Charlotte. Not knowing that I had a small defect in the artery feeding my left ventricle (LAD), I was pushing my heart rate well above 200 bpm for long stretches. One day out on the bike my LAD dissected and I had an acute heart attack. I had to have an emergency bypass (yeah, open heart surgery!). It is an absolute miracle that I am here to tell you all about it. It's even more amazing that I have little if any permanent damage (except psychological anyway). The Docs can only shake their heads - LOL! And EVERYONE at the hospital here has now heard of "that biker guy".
I cannot begin to list all of your names, DJs and Dancers alike, but anyway, thanks again for enlightening me on my newly found interest in music. Feel free to look at the list of CDs above and add any other suggestions that come to mind. I occassionally run across some interesting finds and will post those here if I think they are good enough.
Oh, man. Track 6 of Conjure One is blowing me away right now!
