    Default My Feet smell!

I have my old favourite pair of stripper shoes, but they have picked up a gross odour somehow (I suspect they've been borrowed) and after wearing them my feel will smell.

Ive tried the odour-eater spray stuff to stop the shoes smelling, but it was a bit slippery. Any suggestions?

Do you clean them? Every couple of weeks, I take a toothbrush and bleach to my shoes. I also put babypowder on my feet before I put my shoes on.

Get a charcoal pack. You can find these in leather & tack shops a lot, but they're really easy to make, too: get some charcoal (regular, not smoked cedar or anything--you'll smell like a grill), put it into a ziploc, and bang it with a rolling pin or somethng else heavy. Chunk into small piecesabout the size of a pea. Take an old pair of tights and cut them off at about the calf, or use not-ovely-thick socks (don't use nylons, it has to be thickish tights) and stuff enough of the crushed charcoal in to pouff it up nicely. Tie the open end, and voila! a GREAT odor eater. This is what marshall art guys use for their armour bags, which I assure you smell worse than your feet (they smell like something is rotting, ick!). Pop one into each shoe after your shift until you're ready to use them again, and you should be golden.

You can also try making a special sachet of odor-eating spices mixed with the charcoal: dried rosemary, lavendar and sage work really well with this. You need to make sure they're not ground, though--whole leaves and flowers work best. I use two seperate sachets, but you could probably mix them.

    Hope this helps!

might be time to hang them up.... the oder could potentially flow out from the shoe and be unpleasant for a customer..... that might not be a good thing....

Like some of the other girls said it might just be time to retire them, i get new shoes about once every 2 months because they start to smell and are usually so scratched up they look bad anyway.

If they are still in good shape, then bring them to a shoe repair place. They will reline the insides for you and sometimes do some work on the heel. I have done this with my dancing and non dancing shoes. Sometimes a good broken in pair of shoes is hard to part with.

^^^ I agree with that. I have a pair of shoes that I've been wearing since I first started dancing and I love them- they're comfy and broken in and fit me perfectly. They were starting to get pretty stinky, so I took them to a shoe repair place and they took out the liner on the inside of the shoe and replaced it, and poof! the stinkiness was gone. Otherwise, could you maybe scrub the inside and put padding like Dr. Scholls in them? The padding between your foot and the shoe might act as a barrier between your feet and the smell.
Take the road less traveled- just make sure you have a map.

My black shoes started to smell and I got some Goldbond foot spray and that worked really well. It didnt smell up my feet with spray smell so customers didnt notice it either.

    I would:
    1. Wash them with regular soap
    2. scrup the liner with baking soda
    3. If it's STILL bad, let them soak (or just maybe wet the liner) in a bleach solution
    4. rinse off
    5. and have those charcoal packs around to keep this from happening again.

The replacing the liner thing sounds good too, but if for whatever reason you don't want to do it, the above SHOULD do it. Maybe you should pass around that you've got athletes feet so nobody but an idiot (who was probably the one that did it anyways) uses your shoes again -shrug-

I had a couple pairs last for several months of almost daily wear. You have to scrub the grime & sweat off of the soles (I use shampoo.) Leave them in hot sunshine to dry. Try not to immerse in water because water soaks into the platform base & gets funky or makes the glue come undone.

Wearing nylons will help save any pair of shoes.

    Mail me the socks.

    mmmmmmmmmm

Run them through the washing machine. Use a detergent cap filled with Odor-Eliminator and Fabreeze (I sometimes put anti-bacterial soap in the mix if I feel it's reaaallllyyyy bad)

Let them dry on their own with a fan on them.
