Default I can't decide on a car. Someone Help Please

Okay I've had it. I am so sick of car shopping. I have narrowed my choices down to the Honda CR-V, Toyota Rav-4, and Nissan XTerra. My fiance is sick of me talking about it, my father is about to start screening my calls because he's sick of me calling for car advice, and the car lot is sick of me coming back and asking to test drive again. Soooooo I am begging anyone here who owns one of these SUVs please tell me about your experience and whether or not you like it. Thanks so much

check out consumer reports, they are great about giving pro's/con's. Also, look at the resale value..the honda and toyotas are best for that and also great for reliability.

FYI- My friend had a Rav-4, and she had quite a few problems with it. It had terrible road noise, too.

Dunno if it was just her car, but I thought I'd let you know.

My husband does mechanics on the side and I couldn't tell you how many times I have seen Rav-4's in my garage!

That's wierd because I was just going to post about how my experiences with Toyota's have always been very positive...they're very well known for being reliable...I drive one (not a Rav-4, mind you) and most of my family drives them because they last so long (we haven't had one last less than 11 years with minimal (IE: Not Pricey) problems) I will probably never buy anything else.

Honda's are also very good, and comparable in price.

At this point, those two companies are pretty neck and neck with each other with regards to every aspect (reliability, mileage, etc) so it pretty much boils down to what YOU think about price and aesthetics. Both of those choices are good ones, pick which one you just like better.

    That's my two cents, anyways.

My cousin had a Rav-4 and had constant problems with it, same with a gf of mine. I hardly ever hear positive things about the Rav-4's which is very odd for Toyota. The CRV is supposed to be really good and rather reliable.

I loved my honda cr-v.... it was good, reliable, and great on gas. Also, very fun to drive. My best friend has the toyota rav-4, and it just doesnt do it for me... pretty rough ride, and hers is FRESH from the dealership! However.... I LOVE the way the nissan looks, so u have a pretty hard choice! I say go with the nissan or the honda... both reliable.

Of course all manufactures have lemons. Honda has a reputation for low maintenance needs/costs overall.

My ex-wife got a CRV just before the divorce. Still seems happy with it. And, believe me, she's not one to waste too much time on happiness.

I have went from a BMW to an american car and I have to say I have been pleasantly surprised. They are not the pieces of junk from the 70's and 80's anymore.

Or - I got lucky. It's a jeep - kinda off brand so maybe that has something to do with it.

The Honda is the best bet. I have one and have never had any problems (knocking of wood). Toyotas are good cars too. Whatever you do don't get the Nissan they are pieces of $hit, I know alot of people who have them and have lots of problems

Strengthening its lineup of cars and light trucks assembled in Ohio, Honda’s CR-V will be the second light truck built at the East Liberty plant, which currently produces the Element, Accord and Civic. The move will help meet demand for the CR-V, which reached a U.S. sales record of 149,281 units last year.

The new Acura SUV will be the first light truck model at the Marysville plant, joining a lineup that includes the Honda Accord and the Acura TL. Placed in the Acura lineup beneath the MDX in both price and size, it will be the fourth performance and luxury Acura model produced in North America.

Well you know what? Every Honda and Toyota dealer has a repair shop. And they do more than oil changes. I see them working on cars, too.

I knew a mechanic who worked at a Lexus dealership and took a brand new one out on the road for a spin and it broke down. They had to tow it back. Only a few miles on the car and it broke down.

America car makers deserved all the shitty publicity and loss of business they received through the 70's, 80, and a good part of the 90's. They all got lazy, and just relied on the fact that their cars were "made in America" (how many gm models shared the same frame, components, and often times body panels?).

That being said, the American car manufacturers have done a pretty good job of catching up to their Japanese and German rivals (and in some respects, the Japanes have slipped on their quality control).
