    Angry Charity Stripper?

Ever just have 'one of those nights?' I worked a double yesterday 3pm - 2:30am. I seriously dubbed myself a 'Charity Stripper'. In that time I sold one dance... one stinking dance so I made a lovely $20. Most of the girls last night said they made anywhere from $0 - $40 so I guess I was in the middle. My last stage I actually laid down and just stared at the guys. They asked why I wasnt dancing, I said they had all night to see me naked and they didnt want to, so why should I give them a free show? It was just a brutal shift all together. I kinda miss workin in the states, at least you get tipped for guys watching your stage. And here we cant even have 'lazy stages', we are expected to put on a show, and guys dont even tip.
The $20 I made was the hardest earned. The guy was grabby(kept tryin to pinch my nipples), demanding and just downright rude, and every time i tried to walk away from him he would grab my arm. I finallly got him to leave me alone when I said I had to see when I was on stage, he said if I go on stage then im 'impure'
I guess I just had to rant about my shitty night.
When I left work I told management im never going back, lol. But I seriously am doing my resume and trying to get a 'real job'. Im hopping to get one at the call center thats hiring

I do the same thing. Not exactly what you did, but I work in a nude club. If they aint' tippin, I aint stripping I won't take off any articles of clothing if I don't see money on that stage. I once had a guy get all huffy, but I just looked at him, and then motioned for him to take a seat at the tipping area. He didn't budge, and neither did I.

Some girls don't mind busting a sweat and dancing on stage..F*** that. I need some $$ or I'm not doing a dam thing.

I work nude as well(a given I think bein in Toronto lol). But we dont tip here, once n awhile you'll get a guy toss you $5 on stage but for the most part, we strip naked by our 3erd or 4th song And it has to be a show. But seriously I dont care when its 1:30am and I havnt made any money, i aint strippin. I lay down and sing along with my music and look at the guys

I was getting pissy though, I was in the smoking room with a few other girls tryin to get last minute dances. The guy I was talking to said 'no not tonight' and I heard a few other girls get the same answer as well so I stood in there and said rather loudly 'if you cheap assholes dont want to buy dances then get the fuck out of my club'. And I walked out. A girl can only handle so many hours of rejection

Wow you guys don't get tipped at ALL on stage??? Is it against the law, or just not expected in your area?

We dont have $1 bills in Canada... and men are to cheap to tip $5 for every girl. We do have whats called a 'ride for 5' which is the guy takes $5 and jumps on stage with the girl and she tortures him for 30 seconds or so. I know in western Canada the guys throw toonies or loonies($1 or $2 coins) at the girls... I believe they do it in Niagara Falls as well. But not in Toronto.. kinda sucks

I would not want anyone throwing coins at me, that sounds almost as annoying as not getting tipped at all! Anyway, it's interesting how different it is in different clubs/areas. Where I live we often make most or all of our money from stage tips, so I can't even imagine living in a place where I had to dance and get naked on stage for free. At my current club we are expected to dance no matter what, but I wont take off my clothes until I see enough money on stage to make it worth it.

Oh yes, the lovely 'five dollar dance'. If I get tipped $20 in total in a shift, that's fantabulous. I love when we have Americans though- they tip on stage, they tip for dances, they don't try to touch!! (not all obviously, but American customers are far liklier to do these things than others).

One New Yorker threw me an American $20 on stage, and I was beside myself. I crawled up to him at the tip rail and danced for no one else for the rest of the song. He didn't do the whole lean back on stage and make me take it with my tits either (the standard $5 tip scenario here). Haha. I was so grateful it was embarrassing for the both of us!

But Cally you should take an Ottawa trip for some cash sometime. It's not that bad here at all. (I made $1130 last night- a freaking Sunday! I was working 8hrs and got lucky with some regs, but still. Those earnings are obviously not typical, but it's not hard to make money here lately.) Good luck to you! Those call centers can certainly pay out, and you get to sit down at least.

LoL well one shift is usually $40 or $50 I dont know. I get a $300 cash envelope from my club every week from my shifts. I work 5 shifts a week usually, one double. So I dont know exactly how much each shift is, im just guessing. But yes, most Toronto area clubs pay certian girls to work, not all. But even freelancing its only $30 to the house. And no tip outs. But damnit it still sucks when you work almost 12 hours and only sell one dance

The money wasnt bad when I was in Phoenix.... hell I was making a hell of a lot more then what im making now. Since I got back from Phoenix i've worked three shifts, two regular shifts and a double and i've done ONE dance. So minus my shift pay i've made $20 this week. And i've had to use a driver three different times, at $35 a trip... well needless to say im negative in my earnings right now. Im hoping to do Ottawa, im also considering hitting Buffalo or Niagara Falls soonish and Miami this summer(a few girls from my club go down in the summer and said it wasnt bad)... But hell this call center job is looking more and more better unless the money picks up soon.

In atlanta, at the cheetah, there's a rule about tipping and stripping; you don't take off your top until you have at least $5 during that set and you don't take your bottoms off until you have $10 during that set. Each time you rotate and go to another stage, that rule starts over again. Could you guys do that rule and make your own rule? Cheap men, damn they piss me off. They expect a free show, free booze, free admission, on dates to go dutch, damn it!

We could never do that at my club. There is no way in hell each and every girl would make $10 a show. Tipping dancers just isnt a common practise in Canada.

^ Tipping is technically illegal in BC...'audience participation'. Is it like that in TO?

Still, tipping has gotten a lot better out here lately- it's rare to not make at least $5 per set.

I did well in Thunder Bay (Centrefolds), if you feel like giving that a try. Book through Rick & Mitch in Winnipeg, and you're provided a room in the dancer house, I think it's $120 for the week. Paid shows (about 21), dances easy to sell. I made over $4000 (net) the week I was there.

    Long shitty shifts...but it's just a week!

    Feature costumes for sale!

Omg, you get paid CASH for just being there from your club? Awesome.

I didn't know Canada didn't have $1 bills... Can't the guys just LAY a coin or two on the stage?

I will NEVER understand guys who don't tip. I know I know, we all know... But still... Showing up to a strip club and not laying down a DOLLAR is insane...

I can empathise... Australia has $1 and $2 coins. A hellava lot of strippers find it offensive to be tipped in coins (even just one coin plus they aren't exactly easily 'seen' if the customer just leaves it on the stage for you to pick up later). This is why I love working in clubs that have club dollars as this then enables the guys to tip 'cheaply' and thus increase my overall take (it does believe it or not).

I've found a distinct difference working in clubs where there is club dollars (in $1 denominations usually however one club I worked within did $2 denominations) compared to those who require the patrons to tip $5 cash (not coin) on stage min.

I can also empathise with being in the negative with earnings except my negative is just a little bit larger (around $600)... I never saw my Clipsal money and I havn't earnt a cent since I have been home (only the girls who do 'duo/lesbian' and/or toy/dildo shows are getting any decent work really).

Encourage your club to have club dollars. I know I do whenever I work at a club that doesn't have them.

Yeah tell me about being a charity stripper. When I worked at Wizzards last year, my friend Keith would jokingly refer to my constant day shifts as “charity shifts” because they were so dead. No one wanted to work days…not only did day shifts mean waking up a little earlier than someone who worked late-afternoon or night shifts, but the money was really shitty. Many times I felt like I was merely working days because they needed a body to fill a schedule, especially a “white girl” because they didn’t have many white girls who regularly worked days and they wanted more diversity. They scheduled me day shifts CONSTANTLY because I was white and responsible enough to not blow off those shifts.

I’ve noticed that the average 4-5hr shift in Philly brings in about $200-300. Day shifts at Wizzards brought in an average of $50 measly bucks. If you made anywhere in the triple digits, it was a “good” day. There were more than a few occasions where I did no lapdances at all and walked away with $30. Summertime was the worst…it got so dead at the club, that there’d be days where not a single customer would enter the club from 12pm opening til 2pm…then the Abners deli owner, who was clueless about how to efficiently run a strip club, would bitch for us to sit around an empty bar anticipating “A” customer. Spending my warm, sunny summer days in a cold, empty dungeon of a club(Wizzards is in the basement) while making no money was NOT my idea of fun. Last summer, I desperately needed money for my boob job and massive legal fees…day shifts weren’t cutting it, so I was financially obligated to work double shifts every single day to make up for the poor day earnings. It came to the point where my day shifts did nothing but drain my energy to the point that it interfered with my ability to make money later that night when it WAS more profitable.

However, the WORST day occurred when I made…-$7…yep, NEGATIVE seven. As in, I PAID money to take my clothes off. And this wasn’t any huge house fee like Delilah’s has either, all I had to pay was $14 to the DJ. I paid out more money to the DJ than I made, thus leaving with less money than I came in with. And to top it off, Russell the DJ was PMS-ing that day and took out his bad mood on me, yet he was the one getting all my earnings and then some. And this was right after my boob job too, so I know I looked good and the problem was the club, not me. This occurred during the day between getting hired & starting work at Oasis. When I left, I told DJ Russell that I swore to God I wasn’t gonna work another Wednesday dayshift again, and then I never returned! No wonder.

Yeah, I don't know what happened to Wizzard's. I went to dance there 2 summers ago, and Geezus Christ did I waste 2 weeks of my life there trying to make money. It was pathetic. I ran screaming into the night...
