    Default FRICKIN Love Handles!!!!!

I know I know I KNOW there is no specific exercise to workout your damn love handle area, but has anyone else had probs with JUST that area!!! I seem to have slimmed down everywhere else EXCEPT my middle......even my thighs and butt are still not completely in shape! It's ALWAYS the middle of me that sucks!! My calves look AWESOME, my arms are and chest are slim.....JUST my middle sucks!!!

I on the other hand, slim down there first and everywhere else last. I could starve to death and still have a huge ass and thighs! Yagh

^^I did hear that, and vice versa, which means my thighs will be the last to lose weight and my boobs are gonna go first (since they're the last place I gain)

It's your diet. Especially if you have a "fatty" middle area. Tighten up your diet, up your crunches, add some roman sit-ups, side bends, etc and you'll notice a difference.

If you don't think you need to tighten up your diet, anymore, I would suggest that you keep a log of everything and anything you put in your mouth for one week's time. You will DEFINITELY find the stuff that is sabotaging your tone/weight loss regimine.

The thought of writing everything down that I eat terrifies me. I need to do it, I've been working out for 5 weeks now and although I'm toning up the weight doens't seem to be coming off. UGH!!!

I have the same problem. I have been toning up in all the other parts of my body but the area in the back hip area right above my butt will not tone up no matter what. I'm at the point that I just would get lipo but I had a consultation and he said that then I would have loose skin. I still don't know what to do.

A little bit is okay, I think it's sexy in some outfits cuz it give you those CURVES.......but when I put on jeans that used to fit perfectly and now my sides bulge out over the edge of the jeans, I get frustrated and down on myself.

    ANOTHER QUESTION!!!! MAINLY TO VENUSGODDESS!!!
What types of foods do you suggest? I tend to end up eating a LOT of carbs.......MAIN sabatoge RIGHT there!!!! For some reason I can NOT stay away from them!!!! Don't get me wrong, I love all other foods out there........carbs are my main staple tho

I'm the exact same way, and my most stubborn areas are love handles too. Though I think that's too nice of a term for mine. They're like...back pouches! Eww. It must be the carbs. I'm addicted to them! Okay, it's still early. Starting today I'm avoiding all carbs that aren't whole-wheat......

Well, aside from what everyone says, there are good carbs and bad carbs. Carbs found in veggies are good. Carbs found in refined products are bad.

For example, here is a short list of good carbs: fruits, vegetables, legumes, dairy products and whole grains. Sweet potatoes, brown rice, grapefruit, fat-free milk and apples. These food products cause a GRADUAL rise in blood sugar, thus allowing your body to burn the carbs as you eat them.

Here are the bad carbs: refined, high-sugar, white-flour foods that are quickly digested and cause a rapid rise in blood sugar. This rapid rise in blood sugar spikes your insulin level and tells your body that you need to store the excess sugar as fat.

What falls under the "good carbs" but turn into bad carbs? Stuff like whole oats and wheat. If you substitute them with Traditional oatmeal (the stuff you have to cook and not the quick-cook stuff) and cold oat cereal or even shredded wheat cereal.

In order to be a truly healthy eater, you have to have to be aware of what you are eating in every meal (or snack). Protein (lean meats such as chicken/fish...red meats tend to be more fatty), Carbs (a more complex carb is ideal, but your portion should be about equal to your serving of protein)..and if you decide to have a dessert, utilize sweet fruits. If you REALLY want something that has lots of sugar, start buying unrefined sugar. Use Unrefined flour. These are not BAD for you, but they will be in high quantities. As with everything, these products should be used in moderation.

And, if you crave potato chips, go for the low-salt, baked chips (the oil is usually trans fat and that's a whole other problem). But, in short, your body is not able to break down trans fat and so it's immediately stored as fat.

Learn to read your labels. Start slow. The first thing you get out of your diet is all foods made with trans fat (or as much as you possibly can). Then, you start replacing your refined foods with non-refined foods. Do as much of your shopping at an organic food store as possible. If you are tight on money, then buy the sugar/flour, etc at a cheaper place and then get the meats from the organic store.

It won't work if you try to change everything at one time (it'll also be uber expensive). But, as you become more aware of what you have and what you are buying, you'll be better able to make the needed changes. Always read your labels. The truth of, "If you cannot pronounce it, your body cannot digest it properly" is very sound.

But, like I said, it takes time and you make the changes slowly. No more fast food. Not at all. They're not good for you and they have so much carbs (bad), sugars, trans fats, and salt in them (the 4 most addictive properties in food) that it can set you back.

Just take it slowly and keep a log of what you are eating. At the end of the day as you are looking over that log, make a "log" for the next day. See what you can substitute with something healthier and stick with it. It's hard. I know, I'm doing it now...but it works. Learn how to plan your meals. Start making "batches" of meals to be frozen (great if you are an on the run type of person).

Hope that helps...let me know if you have any more questions.

A "good carb" like whole wheat will be turned into a "bad carb" upon consumption. Eating excess of wheat products will do that. You are better off substituting with something more "reliable".

Whole wheat is good in moderation as it has more fiber. But, the down-side of eating too much of it is that your body chemically changes it and makes it's good carb into bad carbs and you're still in the same spot you were (maybe a little better) than when you were eating refined.

Like I've said before. Know your foods. Go read about nutrition (not the books like South Beach Diet or some fad diet book), but a real book about what a food is and how your body utilizes it will be your best ally in changing your diet around. The more knowledgable you are about your body and food the more informed choices you will make about what you eat.
