Its a little ways away yet, and kind of drawn out beyond my personal interest, but here's an idea I had for a quirky contest. I just wanted to know if this would be of any interest to anyone, of if it seems too complicated.
Here is status of the current NBA standings and potential seedings for the playoffs. Mind you these are NOT locked yet and won't be for at least a couple more weeks.

This contest would be a three parter, that would mix a fill in the bracket type contest with some sports betting during the later rounds.
Part 1 - The Original Bracket
You would fill in a sixteen team bracket with the teams that make the NBA playoffs, scoring points not only for correctly guessing who advances, but getting a compounding bonus for correctly guessing the exact number of games it takes them to win the series. You fill in the whole bracket through the championship this way. The later the round, the higher the potential points for correct guesses.
Part 2 - The second chance bracket
It works the exact same way the original bracket does, only using the eight teams that advance to the second round. The points earned here are not at much. The idea here is that it will:
a. Give people who's bracket takes a beating in the first round to make up for things.
b. Give people who did so-so in the first round and are having a change of heart about the future to hedge their bets a little.
c. Give people who did really good in the first round a chance to repeat their picks and hopefully compound their points.
Part 3 - Bet The Spread
Now here's the fun part! Starting with the conference finals you will make spread bets on each game by wagering the points that you've acquired in both bracket contests. The bets will be mandatory, and there will be a penalty for failing to make one. You have a minimum and a maximum number of points you can bet which will rise throughout the conference and league finals. There's no 11-for-10 rule here like you would have with a bookie. If your pick wins, your wagered points simply double, if you lose they disapear.
I will get the information for determining the spread off of here.

I will use the Stardust line since its usually the first posted. While these numbers can change, sometimes by the hour, whatever spread I post on here will be the official line used for the contest. I will try to post the numbers as early as possible to give us a chance to handicap it a bit.
So what'da think? Too complicated, too long, too boring, too macaroni and cheesy. Suggestions for changes?
