why is this segment of the population over there so hostile to dancers? Is it team sports? A southern thing? A religious thing? How could someone find it sexually or otherwise satisfying (especially such a young person as a college student--though I'm sure serial murders come in all ages) to skin a dancer? Why is there so much hate that this is funny to this group of individuals?

I'd say the e-mail is hardly proof, but it looks very bad on the accused. The jury is certainly going to hate him. I hope for her recovery and that the prosecuters manage to figure who needs to be charged.

Guys and girls, let's meditate on this one, okay? Here's the silver lining...

For ONCE, people are actually angry and worked up over the fact that a stripper was raped and one of her attackers threatened to kill more strippers. And this is making national headlines. Housewives and sports fans across America are siding with STRIPPERS against a team of athletes. How often does this happen??

Yes, I was surprised at the news coverage on this story. Finally they weren't blaming the victim or assuming she was lying and "out to ruin some guy." However, I think that if the case was not so very clearly a rape and with sooooo much proof, it wouldn't be so.

Yeah, I think the group factor counts big on this one. If it was just this one psychopath, he would've gotten the Kobe Treatment. Unfortunately for him and fortunately for society, he decided to invite the whole team and wound up busted.

And the girl did the absolute right thing in going straight to the hospital for a rape dna test. Her attackers will not weasil out of this one.

Default Rush Limbaugh calls alleged rape victims "ho's"

Just found this on the internet. Pop some more pills, Rush.

    http://echidneofthesnakes.blogspot.c...08834564152573

    The Duke Rape Case

Alas a Blog has several posts about this case (white members of a college Lacrosse team allegedly raping a black exotic dancer) which has roused a lot of attention in the blogosphere. Now Rush Limbaugh, the uebermisogynist, has joined in the discussion:

From the March 31 edition of The Rush Limbaugh Show:

CALLER 1: Why is it, do you think, that you haven't heard hardly anything from Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton about the whole immigration thing? I mean, the silence is deafening from --

    LIMBAUGH: Well, they're busy.

CALLER 1: -- the NAACP [National Association for the Advancement of Colored People] and the --

LIMBAUGH: They're -- they're busy. They're busy. The Reverend Jackson is in New Orleans. He's leading a big march there tomorrow. The march is -- what is it called? The -- the march for the right to return a protected vote and reconstruction. He's trying to -- they got problems down in New Orleans. They don't have voter base, and Sharpton's working on a New Orleans deal, too. He's trying to figure out how he can get involved in the deal down there at Duke where the lacrosse team --

    CALLER 1: Yeah.

LIMBAUGH: -- uh, supposedly, you know, raped, some, uh, hos.

In a later conversation, Limbaugh apologized for calling the woman allegedly raped a whore:

LIMBAUGH: I just, I'm looking at this case down there at Duke, [caller], and it's -- there's some things about it, some inconsistencies. You've got some timeline differentiations and matriculations and, and so forth. I'm just -- but it was, it was terrible slip of the tongue, and I am, I am terribly, I am terribly sorry.

There is so much hidden in these short exchanges: questions about race, questions about women's worth based on their sexual availability, questions about sexuality as a commercial product and what it means for the purported sellers and buyers. That is to put it very nicely and neutrally. Another way of saying the same thing is that Rush thinks black women who are exotic dancers are whores and that you can do to whores whatever you want to, including raping them.

So odd that calling a woman a prostitute is an insult. Just think about it: if a woman is selling sex to men she is doing exactly what her customers want. She is not using violence against them, she is not withholding the sex in the way some misogynists accuse women of doing to get power, she is following the rules of the traditional society to a t, and yet her occupational title is an insult.

And not only is it an insult, but her whole being is viewed as stripped of all human rights. A whore has no real right to refuse sex, ever, has no real right to be protected by the laws which protect other women (however imperfectly that might be), and sometimes it seems that even the murder of a whore is not as horrible as killing women in general.

This is a paradox, this whole manner of treating sex workers in the mind of a traditional patriarch.

Uh, maybe Rush was trying to sound hip. Saying ho's to show the young people that he's not some stuffy old fart. "Hey, man! Rush Limbaugh said something about ho's!! Rush is cool, dude!"

Well if I had just raped someone, or my friend(s) had, I sure as shit wouldn't write it...

On the other hand, he's a sick fuck for doing it.

And Rush Limbaugh, as usual, is a gigantic sack of hot gas--whether or not he lost weight. His rhetoric is lame, his ego immense. I cannot understand how anyone of intelligence can take him seriously, especially after I saw a magazine put out by his fan club with his co-operation.

It showed him as a rather corpulent transvestite Statue of Liberty, surrounded by the crudely painted faces of various minorities and women gazing at him in abject reverence.

I gave my client, an otherwise intelligent man, a bunch of shit about that. Since he always gave me shit whenever we disagreed about politics, which was all the time.

I could too, except the fact that he was so descriptive w/ what he wanted to do.

"I plan on killing the bitches as soon as the walk in and proceding to cut their skin off," the author of the e-mail says, adding in vulgar terms that he would find the act sexually satisfying.

That is freaking crazy. For them to be students at Duke, and pull such a dumb ass "prank" that is just mindboggling. Even if this email was a hoax, it still won't sit well with the jury.

Well, that depends on whether or not the person who sent the email is implicated in the rape. If he is just a third party, his email will not be presented to the jury.

The Duke coach quit today to distance himself.
Not only is it good that people are outraged that a stripper was raped, hopefully other athletes will think twice before thinking they can do anything to anyone. I went to a big sports university and was constantly hearing stories about the football players pretty much doing whatever they want, including rape.

I'm just bowled over that the public actually gives a fuck about this, and is siding (for the most part) with a stripper. That's amazing. Yay.

Little boys, daddies money and young men being told constantly how much of a god they are.. how many times do we see these exact same young men pour into the strip clubs.

They are rude, vulgar, lack any sort of respect for anyone, including themselves, are only interested in self gratification and are totally irreverent to any sort of respectful behavior. They need discipline, like marine boot camp. Lets see how long they last in that venue.

Just another indication of how very scary the upcomming next generation is going to be, these are our future leaders and builders.

Rush Limbaugh Is a sociopath! He has no conscience! Any man force himself upon a woman and physcially harming her the way they did is bad it is sick! I don't care what the color of the woman is!

The thing about condoning the rape of prostitutes is that no one expects to go into a store buy something and wreck the store on the way out. A prostitute has consented to sex--not violence. You can come in but you can't wreck the 'store' on the way out! Also no one expects to walk up to a boxer on her day off and just start boxing her out of nowhere! Just because she prostitutes one day doesn't mean she's 'open for business at the customers demand'.

This is exactly why I hate athletes... I find them rude, obnoxious, and arrogant. They lack empathy in the worst way, and most of them are dumb. I don't watch sports, it bores me. And yes, I have found that it is much worse in the south. If you fuck more than one guy, you are a whore. The people out there are mainly white trash, they aren't very astute. They mainly believe what they are told, and stay that way their whole lives. There isn't alot of change or growth going on out there.

    1) Rush Limbaugh is scary.

    2) The fact that 50% of the voting population thinks he's God's VP is even scarier.

Ok, back to the subject. I am appalled at what happened at Duke. New news is breaking now that a second party like that was already being planned. They should start over with a new team.

But I have to say this - as an athlete myself, albeit a geezer of an athlete, I would never denegrate a woman. Never have. Never will. Maybe it's how I was raised. Everyday I run into people that seem to have no manners, no consideration for others, and absolutely no understanding of common courtesy. That shit starts in the home! Plain and simple.

    I'm done now,

I really wonder what the lone black team member thinks of all this; was he part of the bad behaving crowd? Did he not stick up for the black dancer because he was probably already in a precarious position on the team race-wise? Maybe he wasn't even there, but this case for all involved is so complex; was the hatred male vs. female based? White vs. black based? Class issues must have been involved in some way as well.
I want to know why the girl went back into the house (if that's what happened).

I think the black lacrosse player did not say anything b/c more affluent upper middle class AAs do not want to cause trouble b/c we know that they think of us as "one of the good ones". It seems as if in America you can never talk about being discriminated against, specifically as a black person, b/c people automatically tune you out if you say that race is a factor in a situation. I am biracial and have gotten to the point where I do not speak to MOST my white friends/colleagues about race b/c I feel like they believe they know it all and just spew a whole bunch of rhetoric that is false (and half the time doesn't make sense) which I feel is a real insult. Thus, I try not to have discussions about race if the person(s) do not appear objective, and unfortunately, many of us are not. I can understand partly why he is keeping quiet, but I believe that the young man's silence is STRONG testimony on the class divide among African Americans.

So Rush made the comment that prostitutes have no right to refuse sex ever or be protected by law? Did i read that correctly please tell me i didn't. I actually had a very heated argument one time with my ex's friend because he believed that a prostitute would never refuse sex. What morons. One day im gonna call up his show and give it to him.
I was watching fox News today and this male lawyer tried to play into the fact that this dancer lead a "double" life and hid her job from her dad as a factor. I was pleased when the female lawyer debating him went on to tell him off and defend the girl. The male lawyer went on to say that he did not give that information to say it had any relevance. Ha then why give the information?

While it may or may not be definitive proof of the rape, it is evidence of their intentions . I think it shows that the plan all along was to hurt the women.

The email says to me that after the player or players thought they got away with the beating and rape that they (or at least he ) was emboldened to take things to the next level of murder.
