^^^ I used to make shitloads in Sydney, I used to do $350 - $500 nightly on the podium alone. But buisness has dropped off dramaticly with it being common for girls to go home with $0 - $100 a couple of times a week now.
You can be lucky still sometimes though but dont expect it there on a regular basis.
I tend to do well on the podium there but Im lucky now to even pull $100 from it in an 8 hour shift now.
Its been 12 months now since things got really bad in Sydney. Its to the point where i have been going to Sydney and not even working most of the time. The year before that was still ok and prior to that it was brilliant!

I was there for a week a few months ago and I came home with a mighty nice profit after paying a lot of people for housing/cars/everything.

People actually really loved me in Sydney. My accent was cute, they said. They wanted to know a lot about my travels.

Plus, I sold shower shows. Tons of them. Worked super well for me.

Yes there are good nights but they should not be relied apon from my experience.

Well you could try again. The thing is though that heaps of dancers in Sydney are from overseas and quite often you will get people complaining about there being no Aussie dancers. Other times people love accents, it works both ways. I get the complaints alot because of my accent but Im usually "ok" because Ive been here for so long.
We dont do shower shows at the club I worked in thank goodness (my hair!)
You might have just struck it lucky with your timing. Sydney is not nearly as busy as it used to be, but if theres an event of some sort on things can be good.
Was it DC you were at?

I was at DC and the other two that they run. DC I made a ton. The other ones I did pretty well in (400 per night, no less)... you can use a shower cap at DC.. bring some soap. EASY money.. I was doing them so often I got tired.. plus they tip! I did really well on my stage shows and impressed some of the DJs and bouncers (I wish I had poles in my private shows... I'm so good. D: )...

Must've been my timing I guess.. it was the second week of November.

Lol - if you find a shower cap big enough to fit my hair in let me know!
Everytime Ive been into DC its been dead as. Granted I havent been there for a while but from what Ive been told its usually the least busy of the clubs since it moved buildings a couple of years back. Ive never really spent any time at the other 2 clubs though.
I have thought about trying the other two clubs but I keep hearing that its not that good there either so I havent bothered yet.

WRONG! That's like saying someone from Australia doesn't need a work visa in the UK because they are part of the Commonwealth. It will make the getting of a visa much easier yes yet anyone from any other country who wants to work here in Australia must (at the very least) get a working holiday visa if not a work visa.

I havn't tried Sydney as I'm unfamiliar with the city itself (yet to visit it) and because most people do not 'bank' reguarly in Sydney as far as the strip clubs go ... then I'm not keen to give it a go when I know I can generally make my money in Melbourne (or elsewhere).

You still need a work visa, but it's so easy to get if you're part of the Commonwealth and so hard to get if you're not.. it's not even funny.

I had to prove my income would make it so I could -live- without financial aid before they'd allow me to work and only on a certain visa.

I think this is what I was thinking but I got it wrong and thought you didn't need a work visa. Isn't there some rule about people in the commonwealth that are under 30 being able to work in other commonwealth countries? I have no idea about this stuff as I already said.

I was also thinking of when my boyfriend lived and worked in the UK but I forgot that his dad was born there and he had a british passport as well as an australian one.

Yes, you can get a permission to work on your visa if you're travelling and from another commonwealth country for up to two years. Making it THAT much easier to get citizenship later.

    Bitter? Naaah.

Does having citizenship in another EU country do anything for your chances at getting an Australian work visa? Or does it have to specifically be UK citizenship in order to easily obtain the visa?

I'm fairly certain all or nearly all of Europe is CommonWealth... you should check. Tell me the country of origin and I can tell you.

It depends on where in Europe your passport is from as to whether or not you're eligible for a working holiday visa. It will have nothing to do with being part of the Commonwealth.

And most countries in Europe are NOT part of the Commonwealth.

    Italy?

ETA: I see that it's not part of the Commonwealth, but...is there any way I could catch a break with regard to a temporary working visa in Australia with Italian citizenship?

Edited AGAIN now that I found this:

Hopefully that site can help others here who are trying to do Australia too

Any country can get a basic working holiday visa as long as they have a certain number for $$$ in their bank so they can prove they're only supplementing their vacation, not living off of it.
