Default How do I ship a mattress?

I have a king sized mattress and box spring that I want to ship. Has anyone ever done this? I looked up FedEx's freight webpage, but then they were asking about class and weight when I don't know what class means, and how much a king sized mattress weights. I don't want to get a moving van because it would cost about 900 when most everything can fit in my car except for the mattress.

So-- recommendations on other freight companies?
What does "class" mean? -- they gave me the options like 50.0, 60.0, 70.0, etcetera...so it's not first class, second class, etc.

I could just buy one there-- but I figure if I can move this bed for cheaper than 300, then it would be worth it.

there is no way you'll be able to ship that for less than $300. because of the size of it, it puts it in oversize package class. It was gonna cost me almost $200 just to send 2 boxes from wa to tx that each weighed about 50lbs.

you'd be better off selling it locally and buying a new one.

I shipped a very heavy Pilates machine through Averitt. I think it cost about $80. However, my dad did it for me and I think he has a business account at work so it probably made it cheaper.

I agree with SassySummer. It will probably be cheaper (and easier) to sell the mattress here and buy a new one in your new location.

And, just because you ship it, doesn't mean it'll get there in the condition you shipped it in. I shipped my bike to college in ABQ and when it arrived, it looked like the UPS truck ran it over and then they "guess-timated" about where to push it out of the plane. My bike was professionally crated and BRAND NEW when I shipped it. When I got it, the seat was ripped, both tires were bent, the crating was completely torn apart, the frame was bent, the paint was chipped, and the brake line was bent to the point of breaking. Even with insurance, they never paid me the full cost of the bike, and even then it took 1 1/2 years and a nicely worded letter from a lawyer.

Avoid the shipping, just sell and buy new.

    Amtrack, Greyhound

I know a guy that ships big packages that way.

How does thestore you bought it from get it shipped to their store?
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

I bought it from a warehouse. You know when college guys get together and sell direct to public from a company? My king was only 370 and I'll doubt that I'll find a new one where I'm going for that much; plus, I'm actually going on an extended vacation for a couple months, and then I'm moving AGAIN-- and want to take the mattress, so that's also why I just don't want to keep getting new mattresses.

Normally in a big semi truck trailer, and that store usually has them shipped in dozens at a time, so I'm sure they get a much better rate per piece than somebody trying to ship just one.

I recommend selling it and appling the money towards a new matress. Its not going to be cheap, but its going to be the cheapest option.
