    Default competitions

last night i competed in the miss downunder 2006 competition and did quite well, so i've decided to enter into the hustler miss oceania centerfold competition. miss oceania is a really big comp (first prize is $10,000!!!) and the heats are being held in my state in 2 weeks.

i've decided to do "little red riding hood" as my theme. i really want to make the finals, cos i get to be in the calendar if i do.

so basically i need to come up with something really cool to do that will make my show stand out. does anyone who does competitions have any tips or tricks or advice they can give me to help me out?

It isn't just what you do that will determine whether you make it to the final or not. It really depends on the judges, in the end. You may or may not be the body type they 'like' and hence they will score you on everything: personality, audience reaction, body, originality of show, use of props, etc etc.

Most of the time the competitions aren't rigged however I do warn you: if you go into the competition with winning in mind you may be disappointed. I'm not just speaking about myself as it will come thru in your show that you are 'trying hard to win' instead of being natural and up there for fun.

Some tips: tan, stage make-up, some pole tricks, splits (and similiar 'flexible' moves), an outfit that 'sparkles' and is 'dramatic' (basially makes it look like your outfit isn't something that can be bought 'down the road' as such), be natural, smile, be sexy and do moves that are 'model-like' because if it is for a calendar (I learnt this thanks to the Exotic Angels competition.. a few of the judges of that comp. told me this) they will looking at your in a 'model' way not just a performer way.

I entered the Miss Centerfold comp. @ Players (locally). Since I was kinda rushed (only given a day's notice if that) I ended up going with my Dorothy (Wizard of Oz) show. Since only two girls out of the four that entered that night would go thru.. I didn't make it. I just wasn't properly prepared.

Oh yeh.. they will score you on your music as well. And if they have the catwalk part of it at the beginning (Players didn't thankfully)... wear a nice evening dress/gown that will make you look great.

The Miss Downunder is after Easter @ Players locally.

Next month I'm going to endeavour to enter the Hustler Miss Centerfold @ Catwalk Club (try try again!) as well as the Exotic Angels comp. locally (Players) and in Brisbane (Bad Girls). I'm only entering the EA competitions for practice as I am a Wildcard/Photo Entry in the National Final (guaranteed place in the National Final) so it doesn't phase me whether or not I 'win'

I'm also just going to enter the Miss C. comp @ CC (Catwalk Club) in Brissy for practice as I don't expect to have much of a chance (as I'm really holding out my real performance for the EA National Final since I know I am in it and thus the calendar).

Whilst on the subject of competitions: anyone have ANY idea the dates, times and locations of the Miss Nude comp. in Queensland ???

I keep missing this competition as it just isn't widely advertised (well not on the website like the other competitions).

EDIT TO ADD: Miss Erotica @ Catwalk Club is held in May. Yup.. planning on entering that one as well Why the hell not? I find the competitions good fun and a way to be able to be a 'performer' like I like being as such.

hehe i've actually been considering flying up to brisbane to compete @ catwalk club if i do the heats here and don't make the finals!

EA sounds really fun but i'm pretty sure that most of the crazy horse competitions here are totally rigged and you can't win unless you're a house girl.

but yeah, i'm definitely not going into the comp expecting to win. i just want to do well. i know who i'm up against and it's pretty tough competition (especially considering my pole dance skills are pretty limited). but i'd be absolutely over the moon if i could make the finals. i really just wanna do something to make my show interesting.

my red riding hood costume is awesome, it's a proper show costume and is very frilly and sparkly and shiney. i've got a little basket and a red & white gingham check picnic cloth, and im thinking about getting a little plushie toy wolf. i think that'd be cute. i'd just like a really fun prop to use at the end.

i might ask them to turn all the lights off at the end except for the UV's and paint myself with glow in the dark body paint. i dunno!

what i can't understand is why so many of these comps are held at the catwalk club. i mean, i've never entered, but i imagine that the stage there may be kind of annoying to work with...thick pole, not much height on it, n/m leg room for spinning around the pole due to the close proximity of tables and stuff...

    hmm...anyone know more about this?

[ED: when i think of a little red riding hood theme all i can think about is that 'hey there little red riding hood/ you sure are lookin' good/ you're everything a big bad wolf could want...that song is so cool ]

Next month - if you want to do well go into the first heat. I find that it gets harder to get into the venue final the later the heat (EA has three heats compared with most other comps which have only two heats before having the venue final).

As for glow in the dark body paint.. you want to ring the club to see if they have the capacity to turn the lights off so much that you would be able to get that effect (alot of clubs don't have that much control over the lighting).

As for end of show props, well, to be honest there really isn't that much you can do that most likely hasn't been done before... you could do a food orientated prop (one girl during the national final of one of the EA comps used a cake.. she just pressed it against her body) matching in with the whole red riding hood theme.

Just do not do something that is more shocking than sexy - one year a dancer was doing a goth sort of theme for her show and well.. her end of show thing was to slit her wrists and have fake blood pour out of it. All the judges and alot of people were shaking their heads in disbelief she would do something like that...

Wow, I really have to make a trip into Brisbane esp. into that club so I can see the stage. Players has a similiar problem with the stage being small and the poles being not that tall however at least their poles are usable (the right thickness).

Oh.. I used a ForceFX Lightsaber as one of my props last year however since Bad Girls can't turn the lights totally off the effect was lost (it can really light up a dark room). Plus you couldn't 'hear' it (as it makes all the proper sounds).

I have done a lot of bodypainting with flourescent paints, and it looks really, really good even with the other lights on, if there are enough blacklights in the club.

One thing I would advise is not going overboard with it, a little goes a long way. And get someone good to do the painting, if it's done crudely the effect is bad--as I heard when I had left my paints in the dressing room and one of the dancers who was supposedly an artist did some bad work on a couple of them, lol...

Somewhere in Music Mix there is a thread about songs to go with that outfit--a great one, BTW. I'll see if I can find it and post a link.

Djoser - clubs in Brisbane I noticed have very little actual blacklight. They're mostly clubbing lights like red and yellow and green. So glowing really is kept at a minimum unless specified.

    Oh, that's too bad...

Unless maybe they have even a few around the stage--then it would still work, and look great.

the club i'm going to be competing at has heaps and heaps of black lights (i wore a white indian costume for a comp there last year and it looked awesome on stage) and they turned down the lights for a girl in the comp i was in a few days ago, so im thinking body paints may be the way to go!

    Definitely, that'll look great!

I'm trying to think of what you could paint that would go with that outfit. I have painted everything you can imagine, everywhere you could imagine, but never was presented with this situation.

hmm i dont know either. the costume i'm wearing cost me $600 so i don't want to get paint on it, so i'm just going to have to smear paint all over myself for the last few minutes of the show. i'm thinking i could write "LITTLE RED" on my chest or something, and then just smear paint everywhere.

I used to a girl/girl show in Ca with UV paint, it was pretty good, we always ended up with paint soaked money.

i just got home from the first heat of the south australian part of the comp

i kicked asssss (i think) - even had management tell me i was the best show of the night, and that was even compared to her house girls yaaay

i ended up doing little red riding hood, with a big bad wolf costume underneath, and finished off in a tonic water bath with UV paint

*fingers crossed* south australian finals on thursday night...!
