IMHO, Louis Uchitelle is one of the more "objective" NY Times financial writers ... although many would argue that "objective" and "NY Times" are mutually exclusive terms. His treatment of the subject of layoffs is a bit less than objective though, since he didn't discuss any of the root causes why layoffs by US corporations became commonplace and unavoidable in the first place.
