Default dancing with people you know?

    HI,
I'm a completely new dancer and havent even done my 1st night yet. I'm pretty nervous which is genrally unlike me, worried about people I know coming into the club while i'm working and also, I know most of the bar staff from outside of the club so i'm freaked that it will put me off and destract me from my job.

Any tips would be really really helpfull?

Also, how do you deal with telling friends and family about stripping? I don't want them to juge me. I love dancing and hope that this will work out for me, I have no hang ups about it and want them to realise its just a job.

    Thanks

There are some threads relating to this. It will happen at some point. Hell, last night a girl in my club saw her COUSIN up in there. Then he didn't even have the nerve to leave the club when she told him she was about to get up on stage...She was to busy performing to notice if he watched or not, but umm thats just weird.

The only people I've told are my older sister and my younger one. My best friend (from when we were 12yrs old) came in one night, w/ my cousins ex boyfriend (they've been broke up for like 5yrs) lol I was SHOCKED, and so were they. They promised not to tell, and so far, my cousin hasn't came back to me saying "is there anything you want to tell me" so it's all good!

My advice: Don't tell friends/family you are dancing until you are making $$$$$$. There is nothing worse than a broke ass stripper.

I'm not making as much money as I could so when the money situation changes, I'll let them know. You can't pull much weight telling your family you are a dancer, but only making about <$100/shift.

People are bound to find out.
I don't chase money. Money chases me.

For my first year- year and a half I only told my 2 best friends, but over the last 6 months I don't really care anymore. I think it's helped not leading a double life with a lot of people. I make more money now, I think because I could care less if I run into anyone at work. Sometimes my friends from my day job would come in and it was kind of a fun little break to say hi , tip me on stage and have them buy me a drink if its slow.

GOOD POINT. What if, three months down the line (or three weeks) you decide it's not for you? You're not going to want it defining you, that time when you didn't "make it" as a stripper.

But when you can bust out nice birthday presents and brag about your financial security, you'll have something positive to make them proud.

I'm from chicago so dancing in the west is good for me since the chances of running into someone I don't want to run into are slim. *knocks on wood*

Maybe try working at a club that's farther away?

I don't tell my family what I do. The only person I told was my mom & she was cool about it.
