    Drugs in The Business

Hi, I need to know the truth, is there a lot of drug use in the business? I am very weary of this, because I am an ex addict and need to know what I should be prepared for when I start! Please let me know and do not sugar coat the truth, be blunt. Thank You.

it totally depends on the club you work at. some clubs are rife with drug addicts, others are not. i've seen clubs change dramatically over time too - for a few months there it'll be a batch of girls of whom 90% are using drugs every night, and then there'll be a few months when there's only 2 girls in the entire club using them.

I would say yes. However, the degree to which it's openly displayed really varies from club to club. I'd say for the most part, usage is usually well hidden although girls usually know other girls' business if you know what I mean.

It's pretty rare for girls to brazenly do lines out in the open. Smoking pot and drinking might be another story entirely though.

If you have a chance of relapse, you may want to reconsider putting yourself in this environment. my opinion only, good luck to you.

I know I would never do anything to the extreme I used to, but I am most scared of weed, because I love it and I haven't done it in almost 2 years now, so I should be okay, becasue I have my son to come home to and would never want to jepordize his life or get him taken off of me.

oh, if that's it then just find a club where they don't tolerate it. It's pretty hard to "hide" pot smoke.

People do use drugs at work, but I think they do everywhere, 2 girls at my old retail job used to do lines in the staff toilets! Theres usually drugs around in clubs, and stripclubs are no different, be careful I got sucked into it when I first started dancing and accepted coke etc off customers, a lot of girls did/do. There probably will be some girls doing drugs at whatever club you choose to work at, sometimes it's blatently obvious other times it's not.

^^^Agree. There are drugs everywhere, it's just a matter of how "in the open" they are. My concern is that you'll swap one addiction for the other i.e drinking, if there's alcohol in your club.

Be careful and make sure you're strong enough to enter this business. Good luck!

I've always felt the hellish hours are partly responsible for the popularity of coke in the clubs among some of the dancers. Be very leary of working in a "party" environment if you've had issues with party drugs in the past.

No, people don't do drugs at work in every type of job, at least not openly and universally. Yes, drugs are big in the bar and club industry all around, but they are even more popular in strip club across the boards because the customers demand and fund them. Every SC has their dealer.

Hell, it's like a pharmacologist's lab back there sometimes, in the dressing room. Every drug known to man can be smoked, snorted, popped, or eaten--except mabe peyote or belladonna.

I could do any or all of them right at work, if I chose, but I won't even drink.

Now once I get home, it's a different matter, but at work I need a clear head.

Dealers are always to be found in the clubs around here. Quite often they will team up with dancers and use them as distributors of their various wares.

    Daytona Beach, Florida...

But don't let that scare you--there are clubs out there with pretty strict rules, and though they may have dealers and drug-using dancers and customers, they have to keep a low profile.

Just be picky about where you work--hopefully there will be several clubs in your area to choose from.

Scope out the place you're interested in working at. Get a feel for the way the girls act and how the owner feels about drugs. If he's chilled out about their drug policy then chances are that there's possible drug use. At our club we have a very strict drug policy, and you could get drug tested at any given moment and are fired on the spot if it comes back positive. Most of our girls don't want to lose their job, so they are pretty good with keeping out of the drugs. We're also not even allowed to drink on the job, so it all depends hun. Good luck sweetie!

you're afraid of pot? wow, i can't believe you didn't start anything here. in my educated opinion... alcohol, tobacco, and even tylonol is worse than pot. if you are worried about something as minute as marijuanna, then i would suggest staying away from any bar, anywhere. you will get sucked into things far worse. i've noticed that "E" and coke are favs amoung dancers who decide not to be straight.

Always assume there are going to be drugs at any club you work in. Even if the girls don't openly do it, there are customers that come to strip clubs and hope to find drugs while they're there. I've had guys try to pay for dances with drugs.
Know ahead of time how you're going to handle it. Especially because you're extra vulnerable, you've had a taste it's too easy to fall in.

thank you guys for your advice! but just know one thing....I'm not "afraid" of pot, I just rather not be around it, because if I start I'll probably end up doing it for the rest of my life! and yes, alcohol is definitely worse than pot, but tylenol?? I don't know about all that...

At our club, they don't give a pig's fart what kind of drugs we do in our free time, but at work, it's over-the-counter or alcohol only. The dressing room is pretty wide open, and the two bathroom stalls have doors with a 4" gap at the top and bottom and are facing the manager's office (the sinks are just around the corner from the bathrooms). It's also posted pretty prominently that use or possession of any illegal substances while at the club are grounds for immediate firing. There are plenty of girls who smoke pot outside of the club, and a few who do coke or such, but I have yet to see any dancer be anything aside from drunk at the club.

Tylenol is definitely worse than pot. Tylenol is actually worse than a lot of things. Look up death statistics if you don't believe me. It can cause complete liver failure, by itself if overused, or if taken with alcohol AT ALL.

"I'm not "afraid" of pot, I just rather not be around it, because if I start I'll probably end up doing it for the rest of my life! "

    *takes a deep breath*

There's your answer right there. You say that you're a recovering addict (ex-addict implies that you are no longer addicted, and if that were actually true you certainly wouldnt be worried about pot), and that you are reasonably certain that being around drug use will cause you to relapse.

Congratulations on being wise and honest enough to know what your "triggers" will be. Unfortunately it sounds like you may already have your heart set on stripping. However if just being around pot smokers will be temptation enough for you to relapse, you already know that you shouldn't be stripping. If you are fortunate enough to know that you are an addict and to make positive changes in your life accordingly - do not risk ruining all the good work you have done by disregarding those doubts you're having, 'cause you're probably having them for a reason.

Some of the other dancers will have addiction problems. If you work in a club that has alot of turnover (and most of them do) then it's simply statistically unavoidable considering how many people in the general population have addiction problems of one kind or another. Dealers also like to hang out at clubs, and will offer you "free" samples. They will be hard to turn down. If you are still drinking, that will make it even more difficult. If you are tired, that will make it more difficult, if you are sad/lonely/insecure/hungry/bored etc... that will make it more difficult. If you are a recovering addict, many of your using buddies were probably addicts, and you may find yourself making friends more easily with people who use/have lifestyles that accomadate drug use because A) you have more in common with them B) they are more extroverted,... whatever. In the vulnerable state you're in, deciding to work in a strip club would be a huge risk to your sobriety.

If you are dead serious about being sober (and since you have a child, I hope that you are) you know better than to put yourself into a situation where you will be vulnerable to temptation. Drugs are in every industry that's true, and you will always have to be careful and deliberative in deciding who to associate with as long as you are feeling vulnerable. If you have been to any meetings in the past you know that they say to avoid "people and places" that you associate with drug/alcohol abuse. DO NOT become a dancer if you do not trust yourself around drugs. If you are honest enough with yourself to know that being around pot smoke and pot smokers will likely cause you to relapse PLEASE seek further support and work on your recovery. Everyone has a different trajectory towards recovery and some take longer than others. Listen to yourself and do what is best for yourself and your family. The money is not worth the risk it presents to you.

I really hope I don't come accross as preachy. Just for the record I am not anti-drug, just anti-addiction. Some people can use drugs responsibly and others can't. Fortunately you already know which side of the fence you're on.

Sorry for the long post, Good luck!

    Bella

Yeah, we used to have a huge problem with it a couple years back, and ever since then the club got strict on the drug policy. There has been dancers that have been drug tested randomly at our club.
