    Default Bleaching and Tanning

I just started using a bleaching cream on my face to try to fade my acne scars, but I really wanna start going tanning. The directions on the bleaching cream say to wear sunscreen if I'm going out in the sun, but is that because I will burn easier, or because any tan I get will look splotchy in the spots that I'm bleaching? I would have no problem covering my face for part of the time in the tanning bed to avoid getting burned, but if my face is going to look all blotchy then that's just not something I'm willing to deal with.

Have any of you gone tanning or used self-tanner while using a bleaching cream? I would appreciate any advice. Oh, the chemical in the bleaching cream is 2% Hydroquinone if that helps at all. I've been using it for almost 2 weeks and I don't notice any result yet, but on the package it says that if you don't see results in 3 months, then discontinue use. So I don't even know if this cream is doing anything for me, or if it even will at all.

Any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks guys!!!!

I use 4% hydroquinone DO NOT TAN YOUR FACE!!! You will greatly increase the risk of hyperpigmentation on your skin which is what you're trying to get rid of. Use sunscreen, cover your face and use either self tanner or bronzer for color. DO NOT TAN YOUR FACE WHILE USING BLEACHING CREAM!

If the OTC is not working for you, you can get a script for something more potent.

So will I turn blotchy if I use self tanner on my face, or will that be ok? I'm just afraid to use self tanner because I'm so light that I'm afraid I'd just turn orange, or not apply the cream evenly and get streaky.

using a self tanner will be fine...just exfoliate beforehand...I'm assuming your skin is not peeling or flakey from the bleaching cream? I would skip the bleaching cream tho when applying a tanner. Maybe a tinted moisterizer would work for you?

But you really need to avoid uv exposure if you are using a bleaching cream. Sunlight/tanning lamps will undo all your hard work to achieve an even complexion and then wreak even more havoc/damage.

Thanks for your help! No I'm not peeling at all from the bleaching cream, so I'll try a self tanner and hope for the best!

good luck! If you turn orangey, well hey, at least it won't last long.

search the forum for self tanning tips. There's tons of them!

try using bronzer on your face. You can wash it off or adjust it if it looks wrong, and it shouldnt interact with your treatment.

Use one of those "gradual" self tanners for face. The more you use them, the deeper your color. If you think you're turning orange, you can just stop applying it before it gets really obvious. Neutrogena makes a good one with an SPF 15 and antioxidents.

Seriously...i'm pasty-pale and I can get awesome natural results with a good bronzer...it IS possible to make yourself look tan.

Get a good one, and apply it at your temples, dab a bit on your eyelids, your cheekbones high up, the tip of your nose and do a bit of contouring surrounding your chin. <---I do that until its noticeable, then put my foundation on (mind you, I use a powder foundation, studiofix) and then lightly touch up the areas that need a bit more colour.

If you do that in conjunction with a self tanner MADE for light skin and also designed for the face you'll look great
