Exclamation FDA Warning For Contact Lens Wearers!

I decided to post this because the ReNu solution was what Mox and I got when we got our new contacts last week. It may not be anything serious, but it's at least worth giving a warning!

Wow. That's crazy, I used to use the ReNu solution.

I has a lens tear while it was in my eye and I had to go to the doctor to have the pieces removed. My boyfriends mom is an optician and she refuses to give me anything other then the daily kind, and only for special occasions.

Thanks for the warning Deni! Not enough people practise safe contact lens wear.

Yeah, thanks for the warning. I usually wear contact lenses; the 2 week disposable kind. I think I use opti-free, though, but I know i definitely have problems with them here in France, but usually because of my eyes drying out from all the smoke everywhere! I would get LASIK if i werent so chicken about it...still a bit mistrustful of anything going wrong with LASIK!

I used that solution but I cant prove that the similar issues people are reporting are the same as mine. There are some similarities between them and the problems I am having now but I went off a few medications that can cause vision problems when dicontinued. I'm going to the Dr. today to see whats going on. That solution could be the reason I was getting chronic sinus infections. I quit using it because it wasnt giving me the moisture I needed. I cant wear the disposable kind, I wish I could, but my eyesight is really bad.

Lasik is an option for me. It would be nice to not have to wear contacts or glasses as I have been for 22 years.

if anyone remembers my post on my solution for my lenses not being made, well i use aosept by ciba vision. it is back on the market, but hasnt hit most stores yet, so i hit up ebay. yeah, i was that desperate. i cant use anything else- i get horrid eye infections and burning pain. i recommend the aosept method to anyone with lens problems here. i wear two week dispoables and enzyme clean them 1x a week.

worse comes to worse, i'll go back to rgp lenses. i had the same pair for 5 years with no problems.

I use the same contact solution that people are having problems with. I watched a report on TV about it the other night, and a doctor was on talking about it, and he said that instead of just rinsing the contact with it, you should rub the contact to clean it with the solution, like you would if you weren't using a no-rub solution, and then you shouldn't have any problems. He said it should be fine to keep using it as long as you rub the contact clean instead of just rinsing.
Take the road less traveled- just make sure you have a map.

That's the ONLY type of solution I'll use, with the enzyme cleaner once a week as well.
I just don't want to ever run the risk of getting an eye infection again, and aosept keeps that from happening. :/

Interesting - sounds really bloody nasty.
I was always crap at cleaning my lenses so I switched to daily desposable ones which I love!
