Default HELP! Is my cell phone ruined?

So after being in VIP all day yesterday I was definitely a drunk ass! Right before leaving work (no I did not drive) I went tinkle...I dropped my new Razor cell phone in the toilet I got it out fast as I could. I have the battery off hoping it will all dry out. Am I screwed or what? I just got this phone for Christmas. I have customer numbers that I need in my phone....ugggh!

As long as you take the battery off and let it dry out it should be okay - hopefully you got the battery off as soon as it was ... umm, wet.

Sorry, thats just hilarious, reminds me of a story about a dancer chick who dropped her dentures off in the toilet.. * walks away laughing *

Believe it or not.. This isn't the first time I've heard of this. LOL. I worked for Verizon Wireless some years back, and whenever someone got a phone, I urged them to take the insurance because of this reason.

Did you get this phone as a gift? Or did you get it yourself? And did you take the insurance? Since it's within a year, even if you didn't take the insurance, it should be covered. Take it into the place you got it from and tell them what happened. All phones come with a 1-year manufacturer's warranty and 9 times out of 10, that will be covered. If they can't fix it, they'll replace it. You'll have to deal with a loaner while they send yours out, but it's better than having no phone at all.

I hope it ends up working for ya though.. Just so you don't have to go through the hassle of doing all that.

I knew exactly what happened when I saw the thread title, lol! It's happened to a lot of us Lyssa and yes it will dry out. Whether you should keep it or not after it fell in the toilet is another matter.

I noticed you were a bit drunk last night, after I responded to your OTHER thread. Seriously the phone should work once it dries out, but don't be suprised if ya get shitty reception after

I dropped my phone in Lake Ontario once... if a cell can survive that(which is nastier then a toilet) then yours is fine Blow dry the battery and just let it sit out... should work again within a day.

Now go nurse that hangover silly

Razors are famously fragile. I don't want one. Apparently they're extremely easy to destroy, so yours may not be okay. Like everyone else said, give it awhile and see if it comes back.

So I stopped by the wireless store and the guy I spoke with was about as helpful as a turd...he gave me the price of a new one $380. Screw that! As I left my screen did come on for a few seconds before shutting back off. So I'm leaving it apart for now, hoping it will still dry out some more and be okay. My man suggested putting it outside? I want it to dry not fry lol.

I wouldnt put it outside... phoenix sun + cell bits = eek

Just use a blow dryer and keep it next to some heat so it can dry out.

blow dry...and maybe unscrew the cover and blow dry some more. If you can get the phone to start working-- IMMEDIATELY get insurance. They will call your phone (you just have to pick up and I think press a certain button) to make sure it is working. After that occurs, the phone can crap out and you can get a new one.
As for phone numbers, don't you have a memory chip in your phone? what's it called, a SID or something like that? Take it out, plug it into another razor phone (after taking out their chip) and write down all the numbers to call clients an explain-- if anything, hopefully that would net you the $380 from sheer pity

SIM cards are only found in phones that support the GSM Network. CDMA (Verizon) TDMA and others do not have this.

Even still, you have to tell the contact to be stored on the SIM in most phones and it normally only holds 80 contacts.

However I do recommend the insurance bit. Your best bet is to follow crow's advice then follow fancy's Water damage can be sustained long after the phone's been wet.

i did that once. and in one of my most idiotic moves, after it survived the initial tiolet drop unhinged, i decided it was resistant to water and i rinsed it off in the sink. then it fried.

OTB> Razr phones are also Motorola Phone Tools v.4 capable which means if you hook a usb cable up to it in the charge port, you'll be able to backup the entire phone and synch it with your outlook calender and shiz. Not to mention backing up all those txt msgs for lonely weekends
