My friend MIGHT have breast cancer. She's willing to get a mastectomy if that is the case, and I was wondering if you can get a BA during the same procedure that takes away your nature mammary tissue?

I think they can do it all at once but I could be wrong. I knew a couple people that had it done but I just don't remember if it was all at once or they had to wait after the masectomy to get the boob job.
It can be done all at once, but it also depends on how extensive the cancer is, if there is spread to the axillary lymph nodes, and further therapy like radation. She should discuss it with her surgeon.
One lady I know actually had a tummy tuck with the augmentation but I just can't recall if it was all at the same time. They took her tummy and made the breast out of the tummy skin or something.
They can make new breasts with skin and fat from the abdominal wall, but it's a long process. It involves taking a flap from the abdomen and rotating it up to the breast area. Generally, they have to leave sort of a "tail" of tissue that's still attached to the abdomen. This ensures that there is adequate blood flow to the graft until the new circulation develops up in the breast area. After several weeks, they are able to go back and trim off the tail and finish the procedure.
The augmentation *could be* done...but generally they like to wait until the skin has had the ability to stretch (they place something under the skin to stretch it...I'm piss poor at explaining this) before doing an augmentation after a mastectomy.
As someone said previously, it depends on the extent of the cancer. :/
I'm sorry about your friend.
<shrug> she finds out today or monday. She's pretty darned positive, and I'm not going to worry really until I have something to worry about. She had some benign lumps taken out a few years ago, but this time I think she had like five little lumps to worry about...but she says there isn't a family history for breast cancer <shrug> so...we'll just see.
