Default how common are raids, really?

disclaimer: i did use the search function, so don't yell at me if this has been a past "hot topic". actually, i was surprised not to find threads already made about this...oh well.

disclaimer #2: yes, i know "it's different everywhere", "it depends on the club" and "it depends on the political climate of the city".

but in general, on average, in your experiences and where you've worked...how close of an eye do the pigs really keep on strip clubs? Are stings, plainclothes cops and raids common, or are they generally rare? Are they truly more common in clubs that have a reputation for being "dirty"?

Because it seems like all the "dirty" clubs around here are paying off the right people or something...even on the Block (i'm in Baltimore for now, blah), cops seem to turn a blind eye to anyhing sketchy that might be going on. i mean, police are always *there*, in droves, but they never seem to do anything, even as girls do openly sell themselves on the street. Maybe they're being paid off, maybe the city just likes the tax $$ that they make off of the clubs, maybe a raid is brewing, who knows? not i.

So what's the deal, in your opinion? And if a club is raided, how likely is it that a) everyone in it is charged with prostitution regardless of actual illegal activity, and b) dancers are actually convicted?

Yeah, i'm a newbie to the whole thing, sue me it's just something i'm wondering about. i mean, on here there's a lot of talk of raids and cops and being charged with prostitution, but outside of SW (i.e. in city papers, online, etc.) i don't see much about it.

and i'm frustrated beyond belief with the fact that everything's a grey area. how the hell is one supposed to not break the law, as far as contact and whatnot, when no one can agree or be clear on what the law SAYS? i'm seriously tempted to walk up to the next cop i see on the street around these clubs and straight up ask him to clarify, lol.

All i want to do is make a fucking living and afford school without working a minmum-wage grunt job. Fuck, i don't want to have to be paranoid about being charged with prostitution just for going to work and keeping it clean. grrr.

ahem. but that turned into a rant, didn't mean for it to. i really just wanted your feedback on the whole situation and how common or rare raids, convictions, etc. truly are

Do you live and work in the bible belt? Is drug use blatant and rampant in the club that you work at? Are the girls there notorious for outside the club action?

If you answer yes to any of these questions and you club wont pay your fines, lawyers fees and so on and so forth I'd watch my behind. Most of the time most clubs wont pay these things anyway - they just do what everyone else does and drag it along for so long till hopefully somebody will get tired of dealing with it. Personally I got yelled at for paying off one of my fines ( that I acquired back in the nineties!)
instead of going to jail - on a Friday. Yeah right, like I'd be fond of spending the weekend in jail. Not.
Fact of the matter is - straight up, cops can do what they want and strippers are well, second class citizens.

Thats all any of us want to do, make a living and go on about our business.. well most of us anyway. if you want to read about raids and such, look up Florida strip clubs and strip clubs in Jackson Mississippi - plus there have been NUMEROUS threads about the Florida raids and busts.

Go to search and type in 'raids' seriously its been disscussed A LOT!

I dont know about the US but in Canada if your not doing anything when there is a raid you cant get fined. They can take you to jail, but you can not be fined at all because they have no proof you were doing anything. If you follow your local laws and club rules your fine.

Apparently raids are common in the 'bible belt' of the US and in Flordia(or is Fl part of the bible belt?).
