Default when customers ask you how much money you make

What do you all think is the best response when a customer asks " How much money do you make? or the comment " I bet you make SO much money here!" It makes me so uncomfortable and I don't know what to say!! I don't want to tell him the truth because if I make more money than he does,he probably won't feel justified in giving me any of his.

I never tell a customer how much I make- it's none of their business. Some customers think that just because we're walking around half naked they can make comments and ask questions that they wouldn't if they were somewhere else. If I was working behind the counter of a bank and that customer came in and we started chatting, he would never ask me how much I make, or tell me how nice by boobs look in the shirt I'm wearing.

Like papillonluvr said, I usually say something like "Some night are better than others" or weekends are usually better than weeknights because it's busier," but I never say how much I make. If they keep pushing the topic (as I've had guys do to me- some guys just won't let it go and try to keep asking until I'll give them an answer) just ask him, " Well how much do YOU make?" This should make him be quiet, but if he actually answers you, then just say something like, "Well I'm glad you're comfortable talking about how much you make, but I'm just not comfortable with talking about how much I make" and leave it at that.

Yes, and I also tell them that "all men have a preference" Some nights I do extremely well over other girls...

Once I had a guy ask me "what was the most you ever made" I just looked at him..

I like to say: "Why do you ask?"

The customer will feel stupid for asking at this point, because the only answer is some variation of "I'm just being rude and asking inapproate questions."

Or turn the question back on him... "Well, how much to you make?"
And no matter what $$ amount his answer is I always say, "WOW, you can afford lots of lap dances, you lucky guy!!"

If he gets offended at me asking him how much he makes, I have driven my point home.

Or, if I'm feeling in a smart assed mood I'll ask him if he's thinking of becoming a stripper, doing a little research on career possibilities? This works better on female customers, however.

Or my all time favorite: "Not nearly enough. Say, would you like to go do some dances?"

I remember reading a thread on here about this same topic a while ago, and one of the suggestions was to say something like, "Well, how much is in your wallet?" I thought that was kinda cute, although I've never used it.

I always something like..."well, it depends on how nice the customers are that i sit with that night..." *cue to bat eyelashes and smile with big puppydog eyes* They get the hint, typically get a laugh, and (sometimes) end up tipping way more than they were previously!

    A few good answers:

    "I don't discuss my salary with my friends just as you probably don't with yours." or;

"While I don't want to get into specifics, I'm one of the top income earners here because I'm usually in so much demand and my dances are something to experience."

I agree that a reply of some days are better than others should suffice.

If it doesn't then more than likely the custy is going to be a waste of your time anyway so you might as well move on as quickly as possible.

Let me explain why this is a really poor response. It shows an extreme lack of confidence and shows a huge amount of weakness on your part. One of the main reasons you're being asked this question is because it's a kind of subtle and subliminal test on behalf of your customer to learn a bit about you and your ability to perform. By saying, "some days are better than others" shows you basically have no real care or confidence your desire and ability to be the best exotic dancer in the club. Self confidence is your #1 best tool to sell anything and people rarely want to buy anything from people who aren't confident in themselves or the product they are selling. In the case of being an exotic dancer, you are the product you are selling in certain respects, so if you aren't confident about yourself that reflects in the quality of dances you're going to give from the customer's perspective. Get my drift?

So, by coming from more of a standpoint of confidence, you'll find your customer wanting to buy instead of feeling obligated to buy. BIG difference. Imagine this, you're laying on a bed in the Emergency Room and the doctor comes over and tells you that you need open heart surgery. You ask him/her how good of a cardiac surgeon they are and the answer is, "Well, I have some good days and some bad days." I dare anyone to look me in the eye and tell me they feel comfortable going under the knife with this person. No, the doctor is going to tell you that they are damn good at what they do if not the best. They're going to tell you that you're in perfectly safe hands and that you're going to be just fine. One answer, the first one, is an answer of weakness and the other is an answer of confidence and the different types of answers are going to reflect in the patient's (or customer's) reaction to it.

I'll tell them the truth, then I'll say that I do so well because I'm worth it. From there I go to sell them the dance and change the subject. Most of them men I've talked to seemed to buy dances regardless. It makes them think I'm in demand and that my time is worth something. Most guys ask because they really have no clue that people will think they're being rude. The same reason they ask your age or if boobs are real. They don't really care about the answer though, it just small talk.

I think that customers ask how much we make because they really are just interested in how much we make. Movies make it out to seem like we make hundreds or thousands a night, which in some people's cases may be true, but more often not. I think that they ask because they're just curious how much strippers actually make, not because they want to see if we're a top earner. If a guy asked me and I said I usually make $300 a night, they still don't know if that's good or bad compared to how much the other girls make, so they still have no idea if that $300 makes me one of the better performers. For all they know, $300 is total crap.

I agree w DW, use it as a selling point. I always used the "I'm the most demanded girl in here!" line. It got us off the numbers game, and right into a close.....

if you say a specific amount, then it is hard for them to guage how you compare to other dancers, but they can compare you to themselves.

Imagine how it will make them feel if you make more than them.

I don't think it's a good idea to say that because in that customer's mind it will confirm what many people already think- that we don't pay taxes and lie to the IRS about how much we make, etc.... It just makes you look not very good, and is pretty unprofessional.

Personally, I either go offensive and ask them "Well, what about you? How much do you make?" They usually hem and haw and hush up. Either that or the directness of "I think that's a little rude. I don't ask you how much you make, do I?" It gets the point across simply and quickly and then I change the subject.

I usually laugh and say I'm a lazy ass and only make as much as I need, so you better get a dance because I won't be around much longer tonight.
Actually it's the truth. I only work when I have big bills to pay.

Stoopid custy: "how much do you make?"
Me: "I don't disrespect you by asking YOU that. Besides, money talk is boring. Wouldn't you rather have my boobs in your face?"
    Stoopid custy: "uh, yeah"
    Me: "dance?"
    Stoopid custy: "OK"

I just say "a lot" and smile suggestively. Then they say "I bet" and we go back to talking about how sexy I am.
