Anyone ever do something so stupid.
I fell asleep with a scolding cup of hot
tea and spilt it on my um ya know
and my thigh, 2nd degree burns. If
any one has any websites for thigh high
stockings or chaps, please let me know.
What a dork I am.

thigh high stockings may irritate your burns because they don't breathe. plus if you sweat in them you are putting yourself at risk for infection.
Get some 100%pure aloe gel, or better yet; your local health food store should have some calendula gel or cream. calendula has both antiseptic and atiinflammatory qualities. Just DON'T use it on broken skin. Another thing you can do is cold compresses with either blackberry or raspberry leaf teas. both teas in particular have a certain kind of tannin that will help prevent oozing If you are going to do this, you should do it about two or three times a day. Something you can take internally is astragulus capsules. If you take 500 mg 3x daily, it will stmulate your immune system to fight infection without inflammation, and will help acclerate healing. Just don't take it if you have a fever or already have a skin infection.
don't feel like a dork. I'm sure we've all done dumb things sometimes. I have been burned really bad before and these are some things that really worked for me, since I am not a fan of traditional western medicine. also make sure you get lots of protien and vitamin C. your body really needs that stuff to repair tissue and heal.
I hope you feel better soon.
Tons of neosporin. And if you work, or can find work at a topless joint then you're golden. If it's on the inside of your thighs, then you can get a skirt that split all the way up to your hip (after the blistering ends, obviously). Or you can wear a sarong. <shrug> I don't think your summers totally F'd just yet. Hopefully with all those wholistic baths, and creams and ointments you'll have adaquate skin covering in a few weeks.

Yikes. Be careful woman!

Try thigh high industrial net stockings, THOSE should breathe. They might still irritate some, so make sure you're preventing against infection as Voltaire and Fancygirl advised above.
Neosporin actually delays healing, although it kills germs. Aloe vera actually speeds up healing. Safe to use on broken skin, too. My first introduction to it was when I was a kid living in the desert, and the backs of my hands got so badly chapped the skin split open. My parents put aloe gel on them -- the first day, it hurt like mad for several minutes, the second day it stung some, and then it just got VASTLY better.
http://www.max-lingerie.com is my favorite site to order from -- costs less than the usual stores.

Thanks, I'm going to the healthfood store to seek out
some of those products. I am seeing a doctor as well
for treatment. I am such a workacholic that this time
off is making me stir crazy.

I hope you have a speedy recovery. This reminds me that all dancers are just one injury away from being unable to work.
Here is a hug.![]()

I sat on a curling iron when I first started dancing, sounds funny, but it was laying in front of a full length mirror that I usually did my make-up at, left a moment and forgot it was even there, ouch!
I put on aloe from the real aloe plant and then plenty more aloe vera... When I wasn't working I kept it covered with a bandaid to keep it moist, if I had to work the next day, I let it dry up so there would be a scab instead of open wound. I believe I might have used neoporin and vitamin E from the vitamin as well. It healed perfectly with no scar, now that's luck!
I made sure that I did not touchit to anyone's skin or fabric of pants. You will have ot figure out how to manuver that on your own.
Good luck and hope you feel better!
Please don't lick me, it tickles..

yipes. be careful. waiting to let it heal is so much better than injuring yourself further and having to wait even LONGER to recover. i also burned myself on the leg with a curling iron (that was not hot enough to curl my damn hair ironically!)" and then ripped the blister open during a lapdance. the pain was awful, but whats worse is it took forever to heal (i had to wear gauze and neosporin under opaque thigh highs) and i STILL have a scar after months.
