Finally, Some Good News About a House!

The deal we thought we'd lost was just a miscommunication, and the renter guy has to be out by the end of this week. I don't think he will...and I think there will be a fight getting him out, but it's still good to hear that things are actually moving forward.

I'm so excited! We'll finally have our first house! Woohoo!

Congrats...but, ummmm...if the guy won't leave willingly...have you thought of what you would do if he destroyed the place before he left?

Good looking out VG. Maybe you should arrange to have a final walk through or a final inspection before closing. Can't hurt. Maybe a clause about the current owner guaranteeing no major defects in the property within 30 days after you take posession. Bounce it off your RE lawyer.

I don't think he will...probably whine, but that's about it. It's not like he can do much without us knowing...it's right by my dad's house.

You'd be surprised. Had a friend who had a "nice" family renting his house. He had to sell the house for legal reasons (divorce and all that fun stuff). When he went back the family put huge holes in the walls and took the appliances. He spoke with them at the house one day, and then the next day, it was done and over. The house was already sold...and he had to shell out $5,000 to get the walls fixed and new appliances...

Never, ever underestimate someone who feels slighted. Make sure you have your ass covered so if this guy does anything you have something to fall back on.

^I got rushed out to dinner before I could finish, so I just posted what I have. They (the owners) have done a walk through and will do another after he's done moving. We'll see how it goes, though.
