I doubt many strippers tell their 4 year olds - mommys a stripper - see honey - i take my clothes off and dance on men for money. Seriously. My daughter thinks Im a waitress - as do her friends and their parents. Theres no need to tell children what you do and theres no reason their friends' parents to know either.

Honestly - I think its just dumb that people would think our children know what we do...

Whats better - working 3 nights a week with a babysitter in your home watching your kid sleep OR working 40-60 hours a week with your kid in daycare or with a nanny 12 hours a day? Hmmm...

I know a stripper that during the day she takes care of kids at a private home. She said her daytime customers dont know what she does during the night. She seems very smart and I always question why she went into stripping, besides the money.
It's TOO BAD SHE'LL won't LAST, BUT then again WHO DOES!?

Ummm, yeah... probably just for the money. Even if she has a day job, she probably likes the extra cash that she gets from dancing a couple nights a week. Or maybe she likes the attention, or she likes dancing, or she just thinks it is a fun job. But I would say she dances for the extra money.
Take the road less traveled- just make sure you have a map.

I know of one girl who was a friend of mine in high school and her mom was a dancer but always claimed she was a bartender and then when I was a senior and my friend was a sophmore my b.f. (who was like 19 or 20 but had a fake id) went into her club and saw her on stage and everyone found out the truth and I felt really bad but at least the girls mom was smoking hot so there's not much to pick on her about.

A few of the girls I work with know what their mom's do and I think that it's prety cool if they're older (like high school age) but I would never tell a little kid anything like that.

Same thing for me, I tell my kids I waitress/bartend.

I am not so much worried about the other kids as their parents. I am pretty sure there are at least 2 of my kids friends parents who would not allow their children at my house any longer if they knew I really danced.

Everyone at my sons daycare (workers) know I dance though.

They got suspicious when I told them they had to ask for me by a different name if they called me at work.

That's funny..It's a shame how you believe parents wouldn't let their kids hang w/ your kids if they found out you were a dancer. Being a dancer does not make you a bad parent. You can't change the way people think though..only hope they wake up and get a clue on their own one day I guess

Kids (and some parents for that matter) are always going to find something to give someone else a hard time about if they are looking to cause problems. If it's not stripping then it's how much money they do/don't have, or where they come from or what they believe, stupidity isn't exclusive to stripper haters.

My stepson knows what I do. I told him not to mention it to anyone if they ask (some people are nosey). He now says that I sell stuff on ebay- and I do. He doesn't know that his dad danced when he was little.

My stepson is in middle school- so anything having to do with sex and adults is GROSS. Of course he likes to look a photos of VS models in private.

All three of my kids know I work in a strip club and the two older ones (in thier teens) definitly know I dance. They know how closed minded some people are although my son once mentioned to a couple buddies what I did and they all thought he was full of shit. Anyhow, they all know it's a job and that i'm not ashamed of it. No negatives here and no one's been picked on in any way shape or form. *shrug*

I giggled when I read this because pre-teens/ early teens are funny......

I dream of the day society stops looking down on dancers.
