Default He wants to send me money!

Ok, on Easter Sunday my club was decent busy. I approached a group of middle aged guys and started chatting with them. Turns out they are traveling from Canada and work for an Oil and Gas company. Low and behold, I used to work for the Oil and Gas industry in Houston and know these guys WILL spend money. Also, an advantage point because I can talk their lingo. Next thing I know we spend 3 hours in VIP and went through 4 bottles of Dom.

Ok, this one guy fell in love with me because we had so much in common. He comes back the next night to sign me out for 6 hours in VIP. He tips both me and the waitresses very well. Poor guy is talking about how much his marriage has lost it's lackluster, never has sex, his wife has gained all sorts of weight, etc, etc. So we start talking about our lives and such. He starts in on how he would love to help me out with whatever I needed liike getting my daughter through private school. I denied any help because I didn't want to seem needy or like a desperate case. Anyway, I did give him my professional email address.

Ok, so yesterday he gets back home to Canada and tells me he wants to mail me a check. I am weary of giving anyone my mailing address. We talked about Paypal but he said he is afraid his wife could check that account so it's not an option.

Any ideas out there? Or should I not even venture into this matter. I don't think this guy wants me as a sex slave. He seems pretty genuine, lonely, kinda dorky, smart, rich guy.

Maybe you could get him to mail it to the club or at to a guy friend's address and just not tell them what it's for.

    Just a thought...

Once you sign that check and deposit it he'll have your real name.

ps - Why does he want so badly to mail it to you? Never mind the fact that he wants it to be in the form of a check... I don't know, just seems a little hinky.

As I mentioned, he discussed using paypal but apparently it is used jointly between he and his wife.

How do you have something sent to the UPS store?

Meh, it'd be easy enough to set up a new Paypal account. Just know that after it's deposited he'll get a copy of it with your signature on the back. I'd just worry about it if it were me. And she checks his Paypal acct but not his checking acct?

    Doesn't seem to add up.

If anything get a cashiers check or a MO rather than a personal check and have it sent to a PO box.

it's pretty trivial to set up a business account, if the OP doesn't already have one, and have the check made out to an entity with her dancer name or something similar.

He'd have to have a second account to set up a second paypal account. Cant use the same bank account on two paypal accounts.

    My bad.

So if she has access to the Paypal acct she most likely does to the linked bank acct too?

Sorry if i'm being negative. I am certainly not against money! LOL

Try to get him to mail a blank money order to the club. (Inside a card of course.) Make sure to tell management you are expecting mail.(You don't want somone else to open it, or possibly lose it.) Take the money order to a check-cashing store, not your bank.(This way your bank account info will not be printed on it after cashing.) When you sign the money order do so illegibly. (If he is coo-coo and trying to get your info, hopefully he couldn't make out your real name.)

Same kind of thing as a PO Box, you have to go to your local store and sign up. It just works better because you don't have "PO Box" in your address (some places won't ship to a PO Box).

You are not being negative, you are being smart and cautious. It's so easy to think ~money~ weeeeeeeeeeeeee and just throw caution to the wind. Your voice of reason is needed and appreciated I'm sure!

I have a wealthy regular who wires and mails me money all the time. There is no reason to be so paranoid of a customer. The guy spent a lot of money on you and the classic customer who falls for one of us is wealthy and has a horrible marriage.

I have several mailboxes. I have one in Phoenix that I tell him is my aunts box since I travel all the time. He always sends cash, not checks.

Don't deal with the UPS store. Go to the independently owned places. You can get a box for a minimum of 3 months in most places for $30-$45. Keep the box and have all your mail go there that you don't want going to the house.

I hear a lot of talk about e-mailing, using Pay Pal, etc. The computer is for the younger generation. Older people are not that comfortable or accustomed to doing that much business through the computer. They want to feel more of a personal connection.

One tip. NEVER ask for any money. Let him offer and accept whatever he sends. That way it cannot be shown that you hustled him for money if it came to that. I NEVER ask my regular for money. Many times he will just call me up and say I sent you $300 Western Union, or he asks me all the time if I am doing any eye shopping, and sends me money for that. He even went in the cell phone store and paid my cell phone for the month without me asking. I ALWAYS let him offer, even though he tells me to ask him if I need something, I won't.

All my mail goes to a mail drop, and I have several of them so no customer could find my physical whereabouts.

I don't personally like checks, and I am surprised he wants to send you a check as that leaves a trail, and he will have your banking info, plus being a Canadian check will involve your bank holding it.

Just talk to him about the various options, but go down and get yourself a mailbox first.

Let us know how it goes. Good luck.

Actually, it's not easy to get a new pay pal account. You cannot use the same account under two different pay pal accounts. He would have to use a completely different bank account...

Don't get a check at all. Your personal banking information will be on there...and if he wants he can track you down by that alone.

It's great that he wants to give you money...but always be wary about people who insist on sending checks. If he's got that much money, then tell him to save some for the next time he visits you in the club.

If she knows the guy's name and age, then I suggest she do a background search on him.If she really wants the check, then this is what I suggest she do.

^ Ehhhh...even if she did a background search on him doesn't necessarily mean that something will come up. I don't know how many times we "searched" a person only to find out that they had a "tendency" to do stuff...but just never got arrested/charged with the stalking/battery/etc.

I would just be really leary about accepting any money from any man I didn't REALLY know. And, I've never really known a married man (who went through the whole "I'm not happily married" sphiel and didn't "expect" something in return for a $400/hr VIP room. I definitely couldn't see that when a few thousand $$ are concerned. He could be the "one in a million" guy...but, honestly...I doubt it.

Cashing a check would give him your personal banking info. If it's a check for $10,000 it would also be reported by the bank to the IRS (without them having to tell you). If it's a money order, most places will not cash checks over a certain dollar amount, leaving you to deposit the MO. Which takes you back to the first problem. And, since 9/11...sometimes when you cash an MO/Cert Check, you are required to show proof of ID...and that info gets written on the back of the check/MO. So, now he doesn't have your banking info, but with one phone call and a "I need proof that this money order cashed..." story to the place where he bought the money order, he would get your siggy, and your DL# and whatever other info they put down on it.

I just don't see it working out in your best interest...but, you have to do what you are comfy with and what you feel ok doing.

Good luck. Let us know what you decide.

The stupid stripper would give the guy her personal info, address, and certainly wouldn't confide in other professionals on how to approach this sensibly. I don't believe there is anything wrong with accepting a "late gratuity" from a customer that enjoyed my company.

Besides, I know where this guy works and he is an executive of a very well-established company in Canada. And I know he is legitimate, as I have seen the company website with his bio.

Maybe im one of those dumb strippers because I gave a guy my real name and he Western Unioned money to me. I didnt and still dont see a problem with it. Sweetie - i think that would be the easiest thing if you dont have a problem doing this... dunno tho... MO to POBox (or friends house) works too...

Get him to send it Western Union or by Moneygram.... you can pick it up at any Walmart (and many other places too), but he will have to have your real name. This is what I've done in the past.

Lola, I say get the money order to a PO box or safe address. Then decide what you want to do based on the amount. But don't blow off a potentially nice gesture because the sky MIGHT fall in. You know where to find this guy. If he presses for your address or anything else you're not comfortable with cut bait! But don't blow him off because he might TRY to get more info on you.
