Default What movie would you like to see made, which to your knowledge, hasn't been?

With a caveat for any of you "in the biz," of course, that you don't want to give away your own ideas for others to pitch.

There's a number I can think of - but this is probably from my weird breakfast the day before April 17th affecting what I dreamed about that night.

Some angry taxpayer in either the U.S., Europe, or elsewhere makes a wish, which is somehow granted(device for granting the wish up to the director and/or producer) that govennments the world over become incapable of ever collecting taxes again, while simultaneously all multinational corporations go bankrupt. But any "mom & pop" business which is started anywhere in the world flourishes. No doubt too complicated for a 2-2.5 hour movie, so I'm not sure exactly what approach would have to be used. Maybe tell the stories of one now unemployed politician, one now unemployed corporate CEO or senior vp, and one family who start their own successful business?

No doubt this would make for a really lousy movie, so are there any ideas out there for at least one or two good, or even great movies?

This surely will not grab many people here, except maybe Prester_John--but it's way past time for a remake of The Hunt for the Bismarck.

At the time it was built, the most powerful battleship in the world, and when she escaped into the Atlantic Ocean, the British navy went berserk trying to find her--if this ship had really cut loose on all those convoys that were keeping England in the war, it could have dramatically affected the outcome.

The Bismarck blew up the very best ship the Brits had, The Hood--the epitome of all that was beautiful and glorious to the British people, who took a great deal more interest in their navy than we ever have. It took about five minutes, and as many salvos, to do it.

Then the Bismarck escaped the rest of the British navy, now even more frantic to stop the monster, after a long, very tense chase--and vanished into the wide open Atlantic. How they found her again is pretty amazing, too--but this is already getting too long.

They repeatedly sent airborne strikes against the ship, but it shrugged off the torpedos like a dog some annoying fleabites.

Then a miraculous hit with a torpedo in the rudder by an antiquated fabric-winged biplane, crippled this most modern and technologically advanced marvel of destructive capability, just as the British thought they had failed to stop it. And just a short distance from the safety of Luftwaffe (german airforce) protection for the ship.

Nonetheless, it took two not-quite-so-powerful British battleships well over an hour to pound the crippled giant into silence, finally steaming away in frustration, fuel running out--apparently unable to sink the ship.

So frustrated was the British admiral in command, he remarked to a subordinate that he'd have better luck throwing his binoculars at it, after watching this ship take the best they could dish out at incredibly close range, without any obvious signs of sinking soon.

A cruiser may or may not have given the finishing touch, with yet more torpedoes--odds are the Bismarck was scuttled by its own crew (though it would have sunk eventually, so great was the damage).

Well, sorry to bore you all--to those of us who love this sort of thing, it would be the ultimate movie.

But Brad Pitt as the captain? I don't think so...

Angelina Jolie as a British Intelligence officer, aiding in the tracking procedure? A bit of a stretch...

So we'll probably have to wait on this one a while, lol.

Id like to see "Flowers in the Attic" remade and actually follow the book this time... they cut out all the important parts in the movie - like the brother and sister falling in love...

Another McKenzie Brothers movie would be nice, but I think Dave Thomas and Rick Moranis are too old now to make it convincing.

A movie idea that always seems to come to mind when I'm shopping for someone's wedding (and yes, it's a rom-com):

Two good friends (one male, one female) look all around and see that everyone's getting married. What they also see is that regardless of wealth, everyone's always willing to help a newlywed couple get started by buying them gifts off a wedding registry. So for a laugh, they decide to announce - they're engaged! Her parents naturally will foot the bill for the wedding. Free stuff, a free party, what's not to like? They can always get the marriage annulled, and did I mention the free stuff? Hilarity ensues as they play off their "love" for one another. And in typical rom-com fashion, you send the fans home happy by having them fall in love, for real. (And they get lots of free stuff! And a party!)

I've always wanted to see a movie of Villette. I don't think there is one, but the films of Jane Eyre have always just irritated me ("that makes no sense! IT IS THEMATICALLY INCORRECT" I cry out at the TV while watching. My roommates hate me) so maybe that is a blessing. I thought that Sarah Polley would have been a delightful Lucy Snowe.

Constantly, Djoser....constantly. Currently it's Chuck Palahniuk's "Haunted", which is rather twisted.

I'd also like to throw a cheesy vote out for Laurell K Hamilton's "Anita Blake:Vampire Hunter" series to be made into films. As long as they were heavy on the sex and violence and spookiness, and easy on the corny romance I think they could be good summer popcorn flicks.

You know, all this discussion on Chuck P is just making me really, really want to get into a discussion on whether Fight Club was sexist.

A movie made from the book by Piers Anthony, A Spell for Chameleon ...

I also was a total V. C. Andrews addict and read Flowers of the Attic and was disappointed in how tame and lackluster the movie was...I have read at least 5 different family series of her novels...

^^^ I agree with that! If you like V.C. Andrews, you should read My Sweet Audrina...
Now, that would be a great movie!
Also, I Know This Much is True or She's Come Undone
    both are by Wally Lamb....
And, I Never Promised You a Rose Garden.. excellent book and would make a heck of a movie!

"Strangers" by Dean Koontz would be fun to watch. It would be a good money maker in today's teen driven movie markets, too!

Government conspirsacies, psycho leadership, brain washing, alien landings/ abductions psychic powers, Las Vegas, fallen preists...could it get any better than that? Fun, Fun, Fun!

Nancy Hanks' story would make a good movie too (Abraham Lincoln's mom). She had a tragic life of unrequieted love, extreme poverty, and a tragic death at the age of 34. But she mothered one of the most famous leaders in history.

where to begin. how about a better version of "Alexander the Great"? more true to history.

i think there might have been a movie already made for the battle of Thermopolie but i'd like to see one if not.

i vote for Dean Koontz or even H.P.Lovecraft movies, King has way to much pull in the horror feild & i dont like any of his stuff :0P

nearly-real life stuff is good, like what if movies. what if a real pscyo got into presitential office like Stalin or Hitler. KIller plagues are good too, especialy with the avian flu thing going on now, scary stuff there. stuff that theoredicaly could happen scare me the most usualy. i love zombie movies but they are still fantasy, but make belivable style horror...i love it.
