Default No Hustle = No Money?

I've been dancing 1-2 shifts per week for 2-3 weeks now, and I don't think I'll ever get the hang of hustling. Do you ladies think it's vital that dancers hustle? How did you break the ice from being to shy to ask to a hustling queen?

I guess I'm not too concerned because I'm happy with the money that I bring home on most nights... which is probably why I haven't gotten the courage to ask a guy if he wants a dance... I was just curious what you ladies thought.

Confidence Confidence Confidence. My first manager told me the key to dancing is Eye Contact, and Smile. Just talk with them, pretend like they are the most interesting person with the most interesting things to say. There arent certain phrases that Hustler Queens use, i find it just sort of comes naturally. When you talk to guys, dont go up to him right away and ask if he wants a dance. make him feel comfortable- find common ground. TALK TALK TALK. but not for ever, time = $$$$$$$$. I wouldnt stress too much about it. have fun! thats what this job is about, to me anyway.

I hate hustling, and hardly ever do it. I'm lucky because I work in a club where most of our money is made from being on stage, and this is a slow hustle club, so I can just sit by a customer for a while. I'll ask him for a couple drinks while I'm sitting with him, and ask for a dance after I've been sitting with him for a while. I really don't hustle though. Most of the time, the guys ask me if I'll do a dance for them, so I hardly ever have to ask, which is nice.
Take the road less traveled- just make sure you have a map.

i also forgot to add this: The ladies in my club and i were talking about this and A LOT of it just has to do with luck, the night, and the guy. Some guys just have already made up their mind as to who they want to spend money on, you know? There's a big spender for each girl, (id like to think) gluck!

man, guys change their minds a surprisingly frequent percentage of the time. i know i'd make nothing (negative money, even) if i sat around and waited on customers to pick me for dances.

Some girls can make some money without hustling. A friend of mine just sits by the bar until one of her regulars comes in, or some guy calls on her. And I do make some money off guys who approach me, but I can't imagine relying on those customers alone for money. I'm a top earner, but I work my butt off. I try to hustle every guy in the bar before giving up and sitting alone. Keep moving, give them all a try. Even just a quick chat to feel them out. You never know.

well see, that's it. it's incomprehensible to me that a dancer in the current dancing environment (overcrowded and higher contact levels creeping in everywhere) would NOT want to make the absolute most money possible for her region. but i'm reducing myself down to sporadic dancing precisely because in my region i can no longer guarantee myself consistent and high earnings. but even coming in 2x a month, i can't imagine just chilling all night and relying on guys to pull me for dances. i'd be lucky to leave with 50$ doing that.

In my city there are lots of tiny clubs (with like two or three dancers working at a time) and they tend to have a non-hustle environment. I prefer to work in these kinds of clubs, it just feels more natural to me. So if there are small clubs where you live you might want to check them out. I wouldn't say that I do a lot of hustling at all. The easiest and most effective way for me to get dances is to ask the customers that are sitting at my stage near the end of each set. When I'm not on stage I sit at the bar and talk with customers, but I rarely ask them for dances at the bar, I wait until I go back on stage and they follow me up to the rack. But maybe that's just how it works here, because in a tiny club with only two or three dancers I'll go on stage every 15 minutes or so. I guess that wouldn't work so well if you only get to go up a couple times a shift.

It probably completely depends on your area. i would love to just sit around or have guys decide they want dances with me from my stage show. It does happen but it wouldn't be enough to bother with most nights. I work in South Eastern Michigan which has 40+ clubs and the diwindling automotive industry is bringing less customers with money in. My hustle varies A LOT per night. Some nights I get in the zone and bank. Others I just get in a kind of shy/annoyed mood and don't do so well. So hustling means more money for me.

At the same time, it seems like where high hustle environments are the norm, many customers pick up on that and don't want to get a dance with a girl who doesn't bother to sit down and chat with him a bit.

Quote from mollyzmoon: Some girls can make some money without hustling. A friend of mine just sits by the bar until one of her regulars comes in, or some guy calls on her.

This is what I like to do... less work that way too. Actually an 18 yr. veteran dancer taught me this. She is a friend of mine, and I always noticed how she just sat at the bar and always made money.... sometimes didn't even do dances and still made more than the other girls. I asked her what her secret was and she told me that she just sits at the bar and talks to the people that are around her or come up to her. She politley lets them know that she charges for her companionship. (For example: Well honey, I'm sorry, but I'm not going to make money by just sitting here at the bar so I better move on.) Usually the guys tip her immediately for her time and then tell her to sit back down (with the understanding they will contintue to tip). Honestly she looks very classy this way... you know not desperate for attention or money. Guys appreciate this. I'm not saying that if you hustle you look desperate, but at my club there are several big hustlers that wear the guys out sometimes. So when she just sits at the bar it makes her seem less desperate, more in control and classy. And I think there is a little something about the guys having to "chase" her too. That my opinion.

I think it depends a lot on what's normal for the club and area. Seems like smaller clubs and clubs in smaller towns have less hustle, but also see less cash flow. I'm used to clubs where you have to hustle your ass off to make good money. At my newest club, I've been approached twice (in two weeks) while sitting at the bar, both by guys who wanted to take me into VIP and stuff my pants with bennies. So I guess it can happen. Wheeee! On the other hand, if I sat around waiting for this to happen, I'd leave broke four nights out of five.

If you know how to flirt, you already know the basics of hustling. The rest will come over time. How would you draw someone in if you were attracted to them (as opposed to being attracted to their wallet)? This forum is pretty helpful. Sales books may tell you a thing or two. But the only way to really learn is practice.

my club is very high hustle. when i'm lazy i only make money if my regulars come in. sometimes i think i might go to a less hustle type club for awhile. i mean, you have to -work- everywhere, but at my club you spend an average of a 1/2 hour talking to a guy before he buys a dance. it's getting old. as far as how to do it goes, i just talk to them like i would anyone and gradually "gain interest" in them as though we're forming a bond. sometimes it's easy, sometimes it's like pulling teeth. it depends on the guy and your chemistry together.
