I like actifed, makes me kinda loopy, but not really tired. Claritin never worked for me...if all else fails, you can go to the doc and try to get an Rx for allegra, my friend swears by it.

I have the same problem. Ive been taking stronger vitamins, and taking Vitamin C supplements. Also keeping your home as clean as possible helps.

All of the prescription drugs in the world (Clarinex, Rhinocort, Allegra, etc) never worked for me, but Rhinocort gave a good effort hasha...the only thing that works for me now is Benedryl...my doctor had some concenrs when I told her, but after 2 years, she has conceded that its fine for me...I take about 4 or 5 a day, two at a time and they never make me sleepy any more...you just need to build up a tolerance for them

I have a high tolerance to almost every sinus/allergy drug. Most don't do anything for me anymore. It's good to hear you also take 4 or 5 a day and it's ok.

Maybe buy a bedroom air purifier? I'm tempted to do that myself, in part because it's a new "device" and in part because my cats are shedding like there's no tomorrow. Long term, all that cat dander can't be good for one's health.

A while back, my doc said that the effectivness of the non-drowsy antihistamines drops off the longer you take them. He suggested at that time that each time I bought a box, to just choose a different one (nearly all are OTC here, so that was easy to do).

That advice applied to the second generation drugs. I don't know if the same problems occur with the newest ones...

Try Hismanal. It's prescription strength, doesn't make you drowsy and you take two a day.

I feel your pain. This has been one of the worst allergy seasons I can remember and it's only just started. I recommend Allegra.

I take a tablespoon of honey once a day and it works wonders, but it's got to be local honey.A lot of people don't know about this but honey has bits and pieces of pollen in it and when people eat honey it will act as an immune booster to fight against allergies. It's just like getting the flue shot you are being injected with the flue so your body will become resistent and immune to it.It's the same for honey, you are injecting yourself with pollen so your body will become immune to it.It has to be local honey though, that way the pollen will come from the areas that you are being exposed to.I get my local honey from a health food store but you might be able to get it at a regular grocery store not sure though.Anyway you guys should try it and let me know it if worked for you.It takes a couple of days for your body to build up a resistence.

That sounds like a good idea. Plus I need to buy some honey. Thx, for the suggestions all.

Hismanal was actually recalled in a lot of countries, due to risk of serious side-effects, including cardiac arrythmia, death and serious interactions with commonly prescribed meds (one was an antibiotic if I recall correctly).

I used to use it occasionally and warnings were out at the time.

I've always had allergies but this year?

Jesus on a skateboard am I miserable. I've been on all the readily used antihystamines and steroid nasal sprays with no success. I actually broke down and went to see an allergist. I have to have a Cat scan of my head done to rule out tumors (would cause the chronic sinusitis I tend to have 365 days a yr.) and then go for testing so I can start immunotherapy.

The biggest annoyance? I'm sniffy all the time and there's always some douche at work who thinks it's cause I do coke.

    *shakes head*
My sympathies to anyone else battling the massive pollen this yr.
