Pacific's second Medieval Faire set April 29 in Forest Grove

FOREST GROVE - Pacific University's second annual Medieval Faire will be held on the Pacific campus, Saturday, April 29, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
The event is designed for the entire community and people of all ages.
Pacific's campus will be transformed into a medieval village complete with demonstrations of fencing, archery, royal court ritual, medieval cooking, crafts, braiding and book-making. Food and medieval crafts will be for sale and entertainment will be offered all day. Advertisement
"King Arthur" will lead a parade of costumed folks to the stage at 10:45 a.m. to start the entertainment for the day. Mark Brist, facilities engineer at Pacific University, will be Robin Hood, master of ceremonies. Magic and humor will take the stage at 11 a.m. with Tobias the Adequate.
At 11:30 a.m., The Rivers Dance Troupe will take the stage with medieval dancing.
At 11:50 a.m., Roger Cole will tell stories.
At 12:10 p.m. Ariel Rose and Grace will perform on Celtic harp and singing. These groups will also be on stage in the afternoon.
At 12:15 p.m., a children's maypole will be highlighted, with an adult maypole slated at 3 p.m.
At 1:10 p.m., the Deane's Mynstrels (Pacific University students and music professor) will sing and play Renaissance madrigals, Elizabethan love songs, and several dance tunes.
At 3 p.m., Consort will play period music, followed at 4 p.m. by dance troupe with medieval dancing.
The Medieval Faire is sponsored by the Pacific University History Department, the Center for Women and Gender Equity and the Barony of Three Mountains, SCA, Inc. (Society for Creative Anachronism).
The Society for Creative Anachronism is dedicated to researching and recreating the Middle Ages in the present. The event at Pacific University is sponsored by the Dragon's Mist, with members from the Forest Grove area and the Three Mountains, a Portland area group.
The Center for Women & Gender Equity advocates for change, dialogue and support services to end gender oppression.
