    Default New Idea's for.....?

Hey all you SUPER D.J.'s! I am back at my old club. We are allowed to bring in our own c.d.'s to dance too. Maybe ya'll can give me some new ideas?

I need some country songs good for the club. F.Y.I. we all have to dance to one country song a night.

I also need some idea's for remakes of rock or dance songs.

Any rock, techno, remix's would be great.

There's a techno remix of "Cotton-Eyed-Joe" that will work for the rednecks, and probably qualify for your obligatory Country song, with any luck. It went over very well during Race week here--the rednecks fucking loved it, and so did the dancers I played it for.

But be warned--it's fast as hell!

ack! please do not do cotton-eyed joe!

my suggestions would be stuff like "save a horse, ride a cowboy" and maybe some shania twain or something....that's all i can think of right now, sorry!

It's not so bad as it sounds--I hate hokey shit, and I'm definitely not fond of hokey country, but if a dancer likes fast music, it's a perfectly acceptable alternative.

If she listens to it and she likes it, there's absolutely no reason whatsoever she shouldn't use it.

yeah, you are right...perhaps i should've just said, "cotton-eyed joe makes my skin crawl" or even better yet just kept my opinion to myself on that one. lol...sorry about that.

Go with a group called Steps...their techno/country song is called 1,2,3,4. Looking for traditional country? Can't go wrong with Toby Keith.

Eh, no problem--I'd never play the original myself, but found that this particular remix, which is quite different from the original, and none of the other DJs in my area have used, worked quite well for the techno girls that hated country.

It was actually approaching a "joke song" in our minds, since we were all sick to death of all the country we had to listen to that Race Week, but the dancers I played it for were throwing down as they were laughing.

We all have our opinions as to what's good or not--in the end it's the dancer's inspiration onstage, and the customers' reaction to her performance, that determines what is most effective.

I'm sure Kryssy can decide for herself whether it's good for her, and will toss the idea out or possibly use it, as she sees fit.

when i was in high school we used to go to a (*gasp *) country line dancing night club. they played alot of faster music, and the dances were really fun. but if i never hear another person yell out "weeeeooooooo!!!!", i will die a happy chickie. the cotton eyed joe song is pretty cool and definitely doesnt sound like regular country. but it really is super super fast. try googling some country dance songs. theres a website where people post their remixes and songs they wrote. theres a bunch of stuff on there. plus i think its a nice way to play new music that isnt the same old stuff.

Well, there's a dance mix of Trace Adkin's "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk", too. I have remakes and remixes for days....what type of stuff are you looking for? Be a wee bit more specific and I'll throw some ideas your way.

I think we need to establish the difference once again between a remake and a remix. If you're looking for dance mixes of rock songs, there are several good ones.

BT Vs The Doors :Break On Through
Doobie Brothers:Listen To The Music (Malibu Mix)
Rolling Stones:Sympathy For The Devil (Fatboy Slim Mix or Neptunes Mix for a slightly more R&B flair)
I am a bit fried from a really long day, but there's also remixes of Elvis, Rod Stewart, Elton John, etc etc. Do you want newer rock? Do you want remakes of classic rock songs? Remakes of 80's songs? Remixes of new rock songs?

theres a perfect song by thr Reverend Horton Heat called "Cowboy Love" which goes over really well with the cowboy crowd (ala. BrokeBack). DJ's make sure you got your boot scootin booties on for this one, "I was trailed from Reno by twenty hounds.."
